Tread Quarters Negligent repairs charleston, South Carolina
23rd of Dec, 2010 by User847967
On Monday December 20th 2010 my 2001 Mazda 626 was brought in for an oil change and transmission flush. On Tuesday December 21st 2010 i made my way down to Florida for holiday vacation, as i was driving down the highway about 200 miles in i noticed erratic shifting and smoke emanating from the hood.

I pulled over and opened the hood to find that the air filter, air filter box, and air intake manifold was not properly put back together, with the air filter in backwards the air filter box no properly latched down and the air intake manifold unaligned as well as missing two screws.

I stopped for the evening and decided to finish my trek the next day as the transmission fluid was overflowing from what i can only assume as being improperly changed and or overfilled. I started out the next day everything running fine but about 100 miles into my travel i noticed more smoke and flashing O/D lights on the dash.

I just barely reached my destination when the car refused to get in gear, i pulled over and noticed that transmission fluid had burst all over the engine. The car was taken to a local mechanic where it was determined that the 2 lower trans valves had blown as well as the fresh trans fluid having burnt up almost immediately as it was completely black.

This transmission had just been rebuilt 2 years prior with a rigorous every 3000 mile oil change as well as yearly transmission fluid flushes. In fact the car was being so well maintained i was getting well over 400 miles to the tank on several state to state trips that has been made earlier in the year. In one single check up Tread Quarters managed to completely blow out my newly rebuilt transmission and put me in a situation where i now need to buy a new car.

It was only a year ago that Tread Quarters moved in, took over, and replaced the entire staff of the local business i had been going to and in that year the reputable service i had come to know began to decrease rapidly. They now tell me they see no correlation between a total transmission failure and recent transmission service. They offered an $80 refund of the service but this does not help me get a new car and i am now having to go through their legal channels to get this sorted out.

Please stay away from Tread Quarters, they are all about the dollar and not service they too quickly get cars in and out without proper inspections or maintenance and dont ever bother to call the customer when a service has been completed.
