U.S. Bank Leasing
U.S. Bank Leasing U.S. Bank N.A. Car Lease Nightmare Cincinnati, Ohio
3rd of Jul, 2011 by User997206
My husbands former employer leased a car for us. The employer paid the lease until my husband left that job and we moved out of state. Then we took over the lease payments. We decided to pay off the lease early because we had the cash and do not like being in debt. We first called U.S. Bank leasing on October 28th, 2010 about paying off this lease. They were able to give us a rough estimate of the amount owed and updated our address (we had just moved). We were supposed to receive a packet of information about the payoff in the mail. A week passed and we had not received this packet. So we called again. Again we verified the address and they said it was sent bulk mail and takes 7-10 business days to arrive. Called again on November 10th, 2010 stating that we had not received our payoff packet, again verified the address, they said they would send another packet. After Thanksgiving, called again about this payoff packet, verified the address again, and this time they said they could fax it to us. So it was faxed to my husband at work, but the information was all wrong. They had the street address of our new home and the city/state/zip of our old home. No wonder it never came in the mail. Also, they had my husband's old employer listed as the person to issue the title to. The following day we called and had it faxed again, finally with the correct information. We filled out the forms and sent payment via overnight mail (that is $18) because the payoff amount was only good through December 7th, 2010. After two weeks, we called asking when we would get the title to our car, as we needed to register the car in our new state of residence. They said it usually takes 2-3 weeks for the title to be mailed. Finally on January 4th, 2011 we received the title in the mail. Now that we had the title, we registered the car and paid the taxes and thought we were finally done with U.S. Bank. But, in April we received a notice from U.S. Bank stating that we owed around $150 by May 9th 2011. I ignored this notice until just a few days later on April 12th I got another letter from U.S. Bank stating that this $150 was past due. I was outraged, because for one I always pay my bills on time and two the first notice said May 9th and now it is somehow past due! So I called U.S. Bank again. All they had to say was we are sorry for your inconvenience, but you still owe this amount because you owned the vehicle on January 1. I explained that the only reason this car was still on the books in that state was because I could not get the payoff information and the title from U.S. Bank. I did pay them the $150. I can't prove it but I think they were trying to prevent us from paying off that car. I verified the new address three times and still they did not have it correct.
