UOL Juno Online
UOL Juno Online Svcs. FRAUDULENT CHARGES OF $14.95 FROM UOL JUNO ONLINE SERVICES ON MY AMERICAN EXPRESS BILL! New York, New York
25th of Mar, 2011 by User101596
I just received my American Express bill today & luckily my husband & I always go through all of our charges. To my surprise there was a charge for Juno Internet Services. I googled the company & found this 'scam Report' web site showing how big a problem this is. I tried calling the company, but the foreign speaker said they have no account charged with that card. I finally told him I would contact the credit card company, then I hung up on him (after saying "thank you", so I wasn't too rude).

Exact same thing happened to me on our corporate AmEx on our May 2011 bill. (This is partly AmEx's fault because the card had been cancelled 18 months ago.) When I called Juno, the Juno person asked for the complete American Express card number in order to find the name on the account. When I declined to give that information, they said they couldn't help. AmEx has now blocked all further activity related to Juno - although we'll probably get one more charge in June.

I found six months worth of unauthorized charges from UOL Juno Online on my corporate credit card statements today. Unfortunately, life had been hectic since September, and I hadn't noticed until now. When I called to inquire what the charges were for, they insisted that I had opened an internet account with them. When I insisted that I had not, and had never used their services, they kept insisting that I had. They had my credit card number and my name, but did not have the correct billing address, ZIP code or security code for my credit card. They agreed to refund two months worth of charges, but not the remaining four. From the other reports I've seen on the internet, they do this regularly. It appears either that (1) they are making a lot of money off of people who either don't notice the charges at all or notice them after more than two months worth of charges are incurred, or (2) they are entirely too lax in confirming credit card information when they allow people to open accounts without the proper address or security code. I checked with the Better Business Bureau, and these people have an A+ rating! Clearly, more of us who have been scammed by these people need to report our complaints to the BBB.
