LEE DEXTER and her business WHITE EGRETS FARM ripped our kids off big time in 2004 and 2005. She wanted to buy the culls and turkeys they didn't take to shows. At first things were fine and then we received 2 hot checks for payment. Then she told us that the turkeys were dying after they got them, which we couldn't believe. They were not dying at our place and they were healthy birds. We drove up unexpected 1 day to find turkeys walking in a small pen with no food or water. We were told they were fixing to slaughter them the next day, which probably wasn't true. But before she came out to meet us that day, we were greeted by 1 of her workers and 2 Great Pyreneese Dogs who were full of Mange, big old spots where you saw raw skin. We tried not to let them touch us and when we got home we washed our hands and changed clothes and shoes before tending to our goats and Great Pyrenees for fear of spreading the Mange on to them. I should have called animal control or the health inspector on her and the business but didn't. Know after hereing all the complaints on this business I wish I had.

Our sons were very disappoint when they got no pay for their projects other then maybe a place at the show and a small check for the sale of their turkeys at the show. Those checks barely covered the cost of the feed.

We kept calling and either she was out of town or busy and would return our call. Those calls never came and I think our calls were being screened. If they saw where the calls were coming from they wouldn't answer. We then drove over there and the gates were closed and locked and you couldn't get down to her trailer house anymore.

We're left with not being payed for over a 1.000's of pounds of turkeys that our kids helped struggle to pay for. The cost of the turkeys, feed, electricty, time and work and whatever it took to raise those birds for show and the waste of such good meat all went down the drain with this business. All our sons have are the awards they recieved at show and the knowledge of what hard work it was to raise those birds and the other show animals they showed. They met Lee Dexter and learned to know that not all people are honest. They couldn't understand how this person would let those Turkeys suffer and die so cruely. They had been there with us and even delivered the birds a couple of times, while we were working.
