Witfeed witfeed.com credit card fraud, iphone app fraud , Internet
10th of Apr, 2011 by User509028
Today when checking my bank account statement online I found two fraudulent charges made by a company with whom I have never had any interaction before nor have I ever purchased anything from called "Witfeed" each for the amount of $11.93. I googled "witfeed" and found another ripoff report on them and that their website appears to sell some kind of iphone application. according to their domain name registration, they are based in the Ukraine which is one of the top locations for credit card fraud. Somehow these criminals obtained access to my card info and processed fraudulent payments. I have canceled my card in response.

My Visa contacted me about a Witfeed charge and asked if I had made an online purchase for "computer software." I had not, and thankfully, Chase caught it. They are going to cancel my card. My only recent online purchase where I gave that card number online was to pay Intuit TurboTax on 4/15/2011, and the Witfeed charge was made a day or two later.

I had the same thing happen on april 16th. I'm very careful about my purchases normally. I noticed that my son's ps3 online network has been down this week. They have not yet stated if their network was hacked. Since the timing of the charge was just before their shutdown, I'm wondering if they have been hacked and credit card information has been compromised.

Truheart, Yes, PS was hacked: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9216191/Sony_warns_users_of_data_loss_from_PlayStation_network_hack I'm sorry-it looks like many, many people will now have to be extra vigilant about their information, maybe even going as far as closing accounts! As for me, I was contacted last Friday by the Fraud Services dept of my bank, asking if recent activity was authorized. That included a charge for 13.97 from Witfeed, Savastopol, UA (yep, Ukraine). I don't have a Playstation, but I did order a generic version of something from a company in India about a month ago, so that has to be how my account was hacked. Won't be doing that again!

In two days, Chase Visa customer services keep calling me about a possible fraud on my Visa card. I check on chase.com and found WITFEED charge of $15.66 that I had bought a computer software that I never did. I called the Chase Visa with 800 number on the back of the card and they suggest me to cancel the card and replace with a new one. Because I use the card only at local stores not online ! I wonder that any sell person has stolen my credit card and sold it to WITFEED ????

Checked internetbanking and found withdrawal for WITFeed. Immediately called Bank and told them of this fraud. the charge was for computer software. $16.10 was the charge. I had searched online for educational software, so I am sure that this is how the info was obtained.
