I had the lapband since dec,2008. i did everything i was suppose to do, lost a substantial amount of weight. i begin having bad problems sept 2011, Dr Madan did an endoscopy and told me i had a slipped band and i would need an emergency revision to correct the slip. little did i know Dr Madan and the staff of 1800-get thin would send me on a rollercoaster of test which weakened me prior to the revision. everytime i was scheduled for the revision it was cancelled because they wanted to run more test in which they billed my insurance company for everything and anything they could get away with billing. On october 6th. i was finally cleared for the revision. it was now going on 4 weeks, during all this time i was not able to get any solid food down and was having difficulities getting soft food down. reminding you, i am now on my 4th week with a painful slipped lap band and getting weaker everyday, by sept 6th when i went in for my surgery. i was told to put my gown on, they hooked up a I.V. because i was extreamly dehydraded. i did see Dr. Madan that morning for a brief second, he said hello to me while i was waiting in the waiting room on doheny drive in beverly hills where the revision was to take place. i was waiting then the nurse came in took my temprature and told me i had 103 temp. she left the room and came back about 15min later and told me they could not do the surgery due to the fever and they have arranged transportation for me to go home.they said they would contact me the following week to reschedule.. i went home, could not eat, was vomitting all over the place, dry heaving,crying in pain. i thought, maybe i can get thru the weekend however my daughter noticed i was not looking good and was very concerned for my health, she rushed me to a hospital in my city. i was admitted for the slipped lapband on sept 8th. my daughter tried to reach Dr. Madan and 1-800- get thin told her as of oct 10th Dr Madan no longer worked for them. i was hospitalized for 6 days. my band had completely slipped to the bottom of my stomach. my stomach was swollen to the size of a soccer ball and had an large pocket of infection on the outside. my stomach had to be drained from all the toxins. i was pretty lucky my daughter got me in there when she did, she saved my life. my only daughter was terrified she almost lost her mother. it was pretty scarry. Dr Madan almost killed me. there needs to be a stop to this. 1800 get thin isnt concerned about your health, they want to get every penny out of your insurance and dont care about the lives they put at risk. i should have never been sent home oct 6th. in the condition i was in. isnt there outpatience malpractice? negligence ,failure to treat laws that protect patience's? someone shouldnt need to die before they get the help they need.
