I too ordered wood from John and Sandra McCray of Alaska Tonewood in Ketchikan Alaska and after sending $390 dollars via a wire transfer and many e-mails and 4 months later received three pieces of useless spruce (which were supposed to be for cello tops) I've tried to get a refund but have been given the run around and I'm afraid I will not see my money again. I've noticed many complaints on blogs and web sites and I wish I had read them before I had place and order with them.
If there is anyone out there who would like to take some kind of action please e-mail me. I have been in contact with the Alaska Attorney General's office and the Ketchikan police department, fraud division and can give you some contact information.

| Mr. Linden has not been truthful with this comment regarding alaskatonewood. It took several months of negotiating with Mr. Linden regarding how his order would be replaced and ultimately alaskatonewood has sent wood to replace the order that Mr. Linden was not satisfied with. There has never been any intent on alaskatonewood's part to scam anyone out of an order. alaskatonewood was closed down earlier 2011 due to health issues. Mr. Linden's new order has been sent at an additional cost of shipping that alaskatonewood paid. alaskatonewood has sent hundreds of order throughout the years it was in business, and with those orders just a few Luthiers have been unreasonable to work with. There was nothing wrong with the wood that Mr. Linden received with the first order. It is apparent to alaskatonewood that Mr. Linden's inexperience with curing wood is that of an amateur. |

If this is Frank Filippone of Victoria Australia, you have filed a complaint that alaskatonewood has been trying to work out with you. Frank Filippone has lodged a complaint about wood that he claims came from alaskatonewood and he refuses to send the wood back and provide paperwork that associates his complaint with the wood that alaskatonewood sent. alaskatonewood received pictures of wood that absolutely was not from this company and the investigation that alaskatonewood has done in regards to the order we sent to him, sat in a Seattle warehouse unclaimed for over a month. alaskatonewood is not sure where the wood comes from that he sent pictures of. It is not the right color or western red cedar. The pictures of the wood he provided alaskatonewood shows wood that was destroyed in shipment plus improper sawing that alaskatonewood saws cannot do. The wood that Frank Filippone is claiming came from alaskatonewood is not from alaskatonewood. alaskatonewood attempted to send additional wood in a shortage that Frank claimed and Frank insisted that the wood be sent through the USPS. alaskatonewood is not a company that engages in sending wood through the mail. alaskatonewood has not attempted to scam anyone of any order. |

The statement in response to my complaint about alaskatonewood by sanderella ( I suspect is Sandra Rusin McCray, John's, aka Robert, wife) is inaccurate in many ways ( a nice way of saying deceitful ). The wood that was sent to me the first time was unusable as cello top wood because it was undersized and warped. The cost of shipping this order was $22 and I paid $90 for shipping. The order was also nothing like the order I paid for - I was supposed to get enough wood for at least 4 cellos and I got what could be stretched into building a viola and a half! And I packaged it for return better than I received it. I have been told I have been shipped a replacement but what I had to go through to get this far is unbelievable. I have letters from John or Robert which is what he likes to call himself now that he has changed the name of his company to Celticmusicwood.com that would curl your toes with curses and insults. I caught him in several lies and intentional deceits.
I should have suspected a guy that offered no address or phone number and required money to be wired to his wife. Live and learn... It only took 8 months to get at least some kind of satisfaction ... but I will keep you posted when and if the actual wood arrives!

| Lenden Fredricks is nothing but a real liar and hassel to do business with. Everything from the cops to the Attorney General and not one department listen to him. He even makes passes at my wife over the inter-net and now is under investication for Stocking us which is a class C felony. Keep after it Lenden and you will be behind bars. I sent him $650 dollars worth of tonewood to shut down this key board lunatic moron. He sent me back my orginal order worth $360 and I turned around and sold it to another buyer that loved it. To get the curl warp out of it. You put it under water for a day and then put weights on it to dry out so as it will not warp on you. Lenden is just stupid and wants to blame us for his poor luthiering skills. Whcih are pretty bad. You will meet buyers in this business that will be very unhappy in heaven. If they get there. The boards for cello warpped on him because he left them out over night after he unwrapped them and the MC went sky high. Put a weight on these tops after they reach you please and let them adjust to your MC in your area or room temperture. After all it rains here 240 inches a year and if you put the wood in the shipping environment for a month. It will dry out and Cellos and Double Bass tops and especialy guitar tops will curl up on the outside ends. If left unweighted over night. I get a lot of complaints about this very thing. Hell their drying out and this Sitka Spruce for over a 1000 of years is made to absorb moisture and will dry out to 20% MC over night once unwraped. Leave a 30 pound weight on it please. Lets get smart here luthiers and stop feeding off lunatics. Thats not luthiering. Robert of celticmusicwood. Write me and I will show you a picture of how to do this drying out right. I can't do anything about mother nature and 240 inches of rain a year but I can point out lunatics to you. |

| Frank Filippone wants us to ship him 110 more tops because he says the orginal ones are ruined and all sawed wrong. He won't even send the orginal tops back and the pictures he sent me was tops that were not even ours. The ones he sent were a very light color and beat to hell in shipping and it took a year for him to make arrangments on his own shipping company to receive the order. He never had them fumigated and he shipped them into his country illegally on some other shipping terms from Canada (another law broken). We sent them to Seattle where they are suppose to be shipped and fumigated straight to Aussyland. Its against the law to ship them into Canada and then to Aussyland. That is a big NO NO.trying to stay away from the PHYTO Certification. He said he was calling the Attorney General and that should be interesting. You will have to understand there is a lot of crooks on the inter-net and international level. Lets all talk about Terry Newman. I am getting tired of all the people that say Bruce Harvey is an expert on Sitka Spruce when he got all his Sitka Spruce from us. Lets get real here people. Enough is enough with the lunatics that have brains in their fingers and a keyboard luthiering mentality. Piss on those people. Now guess what you are doing because of all the Key board Luthiering. You buy your tonewood from the middle man who we now sell too only now. Your listing to all the lunatic key board want a be luthiering has done nothing but drive the price sky high and the miminum ordering price sky high. Good work guys you have priced yourselfs out of the luthiering market. I have had to write three letters to the Attorney General and nothing was done once they received my letters. | Neither of these liars have wrote since the Attorney General got involved in the actual transaction. This was over a month ago and no replys. I sent Both of them their tonewood orders and Linden received an order worth $650 worth of tonewood for his second order refill and he never even thanked us for the extar tonewood. | Do not believe anything the 1sanderella or any McCray says--they are professional scammers--I have been personally frauded by these people as well. John McCray cheated me personally out of woods and money--buyer beware--Alaskatonewoods website is now celticmusicwood. Stay away from these criminals. |
