Bridges Pets Bad Customer Service, Failed to Honor Receipts for Free Bag of Dog Food Internet

We have enjoyed shopping at Bridges Pet's since early 2010. We first purchased a bag of Natures Balance Dog Food and other pet supplies. When we took our cart to check out stand, the young lady that worked there informed us that if we saved our receipts for ten bags of Natures Balance we would get a free bag of Natures Balance. So we saved all our receipts from March 2010 to September 2011. Today, October 9th, 2011, we went to the check out and asked the clerk about getting our free bag of Natures Balance as promised. The clerk seemed unsure of how to handle this so she told another employee named ERIN, that she needed to know how to handle this. She handed over the all the receipts and ERIN came over and shouted rudly in front of other customers saying you don't have your upc codes for proof of pruchase so you get nothing. Also, all the Natures Balance you purchased need to be the same size. None of these conditions were disclosed to us other than save your receipts. We felt betrayed at the way ERIN handled this situation to loyal customers and especailly the rude way she handled it.
Later on we noticed on of our receipts that the upc code was stapled to our very first purchase in 2010. I later discused my situation with a neighbor of mine that shops at Bridges. She told us that every time she makes the purchase the checker staples the UPC Code to the receipt. It is not our fault that the clerks did not do this for us, as we had know prior knowledge, nor did we have anything in writing about this in house rebate. We feel that Bridges Pets should act in good faith and accept our receipts for a free bag of Natures Balance.
