Scammed out of deposit.

I hired a car from Car Hire UK on the 5th February 2013 returned it on the 17th February 2013, the vehicle was returned clean, without any additional damage and with a completely full tank of petrol in accordance to the instructions. Yet to date I have not in accordance to the agreement received my deposit back which is as stated in breach of the contracted terms.

I have emailed, none of which have been acknowledged and in desperation phoned at great expense, on numerous occasions when I have been repeatedly told my deposit will be returned early the following week!! This has been the situation since the 22nd February. Upon further telephone complaints I have been advised by Mr Mark Sheldon also Mr Daniel Robert that the Manager Mr Peter Wilkinson would return my call. To date the company have neither responded to my communication and have failed to comply to my reasonable request for a call. I can only conclude by the lack of any response that the company has no intention of contacting me.

All representatives of the company have confirmed the vehicle was returned, they explain the delay to a hitch in the internal paperwork!!! In effect that they are just awaiting the internal paper work prior to my refund. Given the time elapsed which is now almost five weeks there can be no justification for retaining my deposits which amount to 145.00 GBP. To clarify I have not been advised as to any justification claimed for the none return of my deposit. They state that deposits will be refunded within 5 working days, I have now been attempting the refunding of my deposits for five weeks, so must conclude that they are in fact attempting to illegally retain these funds.

Sadly I now realise this is a standard practice of this company, given the number of published complaints with the same theme.
