I purchase a Fila pup from Ms Maggio on June 7, 2011, returned him because he was dog aggressive toward my pups, a terrier, and a 4 mo old female Fila. I eplained in detail to Ms Maggio what type of temperament I need in a pup. Yankee was viciously aggressive and attacked both my pups. I shipped him back on June 10,2011. Sent her an email the nite before giving her the confirmation number and flight numbers. She also shipped the dog to me without advance notice on a day when the thermometer at the Nashville, TN airport read 100 degrees. The airlines was also irresponsible in shipping a pup in those temps which violates flight regulations for shipping a warm blooded animal. Ms Maggio wrote me an email and said she would refund my purchase price once the pup was returned. This is now the 16th of June, 2011 and I have not heard from Ms Maggio. So she has lied, is guilty of bad breeing, and shipping a pup in those temps boarders on animal abuse. She's been breeding Fila's since the 80's, she has shown her dogs, and has lots of friends in the Fila World. I think what started out as a love for the Breed has turned to GREED and DECEIT. I think she is selling a few last pups just for PROFIT. That's my opinion. She was obviously not interested in the welfare of the pup "Yankee" or in me, a person who only wanted a pup to grow up here as a member of my family with my 4 mo old female. Ms Maggio's pup was a 3 mo old male. I did not plan on breeding, I have just always had 2 large dogs outdoors and my female is a patch color and that stemmed my interest in her "pup"
who was also a patch color. My advice to anyone who is looking for a Fila pup is to bypass Carioca Kennels, and Ms Maggio. She does not represent anything that a reputable breeder should be.If bred properly, and carefully there is no better large dog than a Fila, but breeding plays a big part bacause they can be overly aggressive. So be careful. I have owned three Filas and none were vicious or overly aggressive until my experience with Ms Maggio. I also want her friends in the FILA CIRCLE to know Ms Maggio is not at all what she seems to be....at least not now. Maybe she once was, but I can only base my opinion on the way she treated me and "Yankee" . She said the other complaint on this website is a Hoax, I had not seen the Ripoff Report when I was doing business with her or I would never have contacted her . So please consumers, be careful. I know its easy to pull a ripoff online. I mistakenly trusted Ms Maggio.......but the people who treat you well at first are the ones that get you in the end sometimes. To Linda........I want to say that you once had a good kennel I think, but to use innocent pups for PROFIT only.........happens all too often. I hoped you were not a part of that but it seems you must be. I will retract my complaint and accusations if you will come forward and at least return my money, apologize and hopefully never let this happen again if its within your power to stop it. I have absolutely no reason to lie......I wanted Yankee........and this has been an awful wakeup call for me as well as a big disappointment.
