Comcast Ordered services with $200 VISA goft card promo. Comcast has no record. will not pay one year later Internet, Internet
21st of Aug, 2011 by User205635
I ordered Comcast Xfinity bundle pack in September 2010 online and at the time they were advertising a $200 VISA gift card promotion. I inquired about how the promotion worked whe nI chatted with the online rep who set up my installation appointment. I was told my technician would have additional information for me. So, I wai t 2 weeks for the appointment (which I thought was kind of long, considering Veris=zon offered to come out the very next day, but I was in no hurry). I asked the technician about it, and he had no idea what I was talking about, stating he was simply subcontracted to do the installation. Nice. This guy doesnt even work for Comcast. He suggested I call Comcast's customer service in regards. I called, as was suggested, and was told that I was an exsisting customer and the promotion was only for new households. I've never had Comcast service in my life. I'm transferred 4 times because for some reason they thought I was calling from New Jersey (I live in Pittsburgh). Finally I've on the phone with John (who apparently does not have a last name) and he explains that it is automatically sent to you via mail after you complete 3 months of continueous service. Ok, I can buy that. Makes sense. Fast forward 4 months. On a whim, I call Comcast to inquire as to the status of my promo (after seeing an online ad for the same deal, it sparked my memory). I'm told that the phone reps at the customer service line do not have any info on promotions other than it can take 10-12 weeks for it to be processed AFTER the 3 months of service is good standing is completed, also commenting that its probably on its way already. May 2011, 8 months into my "contineous service in good standing" with comcast I have an issue with my modem. They send a technician out to fix it. He said its a cable jack in my upstairs bedroom and he rep0laces it, runs some new lines. It worked for 2 days then was down again (funny how it was a "bad jack" 8 months into it working perfectly, but what do I know?) They send out another tech. I make a comment about how I never recieved the promo, and my patience was wearing thin. Again, he is a contractor and knows nothing about it. Fair enough. I'll call customer service again since I'm thinking about it. Customer service again tells me it can take 10-12 weeks for processing after my 3 months is up. I imform them that it has been 22 weeks since my 3 months of good standing. The rep tells me to check the status online at this WHEREMYREBATE something or other website. I do it with her on the phone. The website "has no record" of my rebate. I read this to the comcast rep and she states, well you might have paid a bill late once or something and thats makes you ineligible. What??? I have NEVER paid comcast late! Especially because THEY auto deduct my bill. How could I be late when its comcast who takes the money out of my bank account??? I explain this to her and she has no explaination. I ask for a supervisor. He tells me that there is nothing he can do about a promo that slipped through the cracks and that it might have been lost in the mail. Ok, I MIGHT buy that IF you had some record of it. And had it been lost in the mail, couldnt you reissue? I know its not a big deal, but it was a promotion... something you give me as a bonus to entice me to enlist your services. It was the tie breaker between Verizons promotional rate for 12 months and comcast services. The gift card of $200 was more than I would save with verizon, had i ever recieved it. So again, today I call on a whim to inquire once more (11 months later, no gift card in sight) and I'm told they have no recollection of that specific promotion, and if i'm unhappy with my services then I am free to cancel AFTER my contract expires!!! I told the rep that I would pay my early termination fee with the $200 gift card if they ever sent it. So thats how they do it. They entice you with frivilous promotional promises they dont intend on making good on. I'm sure Verizon is thankful for this diservice, as it just wont them another customer!
