Hello All, I am writing in regards to Deseret Industries , That claim they are a charity that helps people , well they only help Mormon's of there church, i have tried to get help from them and they refused . I shop there for the past 10 yrs becuase they did used to help the community no matter what religion you where. Please if you donate to this thrift store , please make sure you remove tags from stores, they leave them on to hike the price up , if there is a clearance tag on the store tag they take the clearance tag off and leave the original tag on. Example there are many coats that have been donated with the original price tag on them they are charging anywhere from 25.00 to 55.00 dollars for a item that has the tag from the store , even if it is out of style they mark the price anywhere from 25% off to 50% off from original tag. I have seen Clothing sit there for over 6 months, during the winter. i have taken many pictures and cannot believe how much i have, They never have any specials EVER!!! , And they say they are a charity that helps the community. Overpricing is not helping the community, If they don't sell there stuff they throw it in the shredder rather than discounting the merchandise or even having a sale. I have spoken to past employee's that has worked for the company and cannot believe the comments they have said that this Church going company has done. I hope they are not getting a tax write off for the stuff they throw away. Please - If you donate anything to this Company , Just make sure that you take The original tags off the stuff you donate, They will end up charging more than you probably paid for.

Referencing the comment above: I have shopped at DI many times, and have always found the employees and management to be helpful and polite. And I frequently find great deals. As with any store, if you want the best deals you need to invest some time shopping and searching. It also helps to return occasionally because their inventory constantly changes. My daughters love shopping at DI -- they find great stuff and that saves our family lots of money. One of the principle purposes of DI is to help those in need, and the store works hand-in-hand with the church to do that, both for LDS clients and for those who are not members of the church.
