Flemings Ultimate Garage
Flemings Ultimate Garage CROOKS and LIARS!! Internet
12th of Dec, 2010 by User831989
In March, I purchased a 1966 SS 396 Chevelle from Flemings based on the website and the salesman assuring me that the car was a FRAME off, nut and bolt, FULLY restored car. I felt confident that everything was as advertised because of the questions that were asked, and the video's that the owner Tony Fleming does on their website assuring you that "everything is taken care of, all you have to do is turn the key". AFTER the first payment was already made and the car was STILL not delivered, nor was the documentation that we were told they had on the car but kept "forgetting" to send us, my fiance drove to Md with a car hauler to get the car.

They took him off to look at other cars while they pulled the Chevelle to the back of the hauler. Tim was then told to load it. After he got the car home, he decided to take it for a test drive. He was gone less than 5 minutes. The transmission would NOT stay in 4th gear. He brought it back and then REALLY started looking at the car. The more he looked, the WORSE it was. We called Flemings and told them the car was NOT what they said it was and told him about the transmission. We told them they needed to take the car back--The OWNER, Tony, said NO. After calling for several days and getting no where, I told Fleming I was contacting my Attorney, at that point, he said "I don't like you".

We had an expert go over the car. NONE of the things that were advertised or that we were told were true. The car had NEVER been restored, it had been a "project" for a guy in Mn for about 12 years and he sold it after putting a paint job on it. The car did NOT have a 396HP "coded" engine in it. The Transmission leaked and was not the right one, almost NOTHING in the car was origional to that year for that car. Our expert called it a FRANKENSTINE car and a "40 footer". On the scale of 1-6 (6 being a numbers matching, documentation, fully restored car--and one being a PARTS car) This car was a high 2 or low 3.

After my attorneys trying to settle this with Tony for several months, we went to mediation two weeks ago. Fleming has to take the car back, give us the money back for it, and pay a very SMALL amount towards the over 40K in my attorneys fees. The REASON that we settled like this is because Fleming told us he was broke and about to "GO OUT OF BUSNESS" and that he has no money. (I am sure that is a lie, but .....)

Fleming, is an ARROGANT person, He HAS won more than one suit in MD because of his "AS IS" on the sticker, but, He HAS been reported to the MD Consumer Protection Agency in the past and signed an agreement with them that he would NOT advertise vehicles as anything other than what he has documentation on them. His AS IS sticker does NOT give him a license to do FRAUDULANT business.

I WILL be reporting him to the MD CPA because he has broke the agreement he made with them, and I suggest anyone else that has been SCREWED by this business to do the same.

He has been reported to the BBB of MD more than once and I also filed a report, but he just ignores them.

In all, Flemings Ultimate Garage is nothing but a FRAUDULANT business which lies about their cars, telling you that you are getting one thing, but when it is yours, you find out you have nothing but a piece of JUNK that cost you WAY more than it is worth!

I have been into classic cars for 35+ nyears a nd have seen the cars for sale at Flemmings. Several nice cars do exist, but some I had seen like a 69 Camaro smelled of a fresh cheap paint job. The cowl on the car had dust and fish eyes in the paint. The fit of the trim was 3rd rate el cheapo. The fit of the rear deck lid was misaligned and there was a 1/4 in gap in the window corber at the bottom where the window meets the metal. Looked like someone a very poor fit. The car looked like it was full of cheap nonGM restro parts and was being marketed as a SS, but has a sport coupe steering wheel. One area on the rear driversside quarter was messed up and some one tried to buff it out nad looks loke they starting heating up the clear coat.

The BBB list the company as an F. I have never seen tat rating before by the BBB. Lets just say paint covers a muliitude or bad panels.

The checklist covering all the points of the car is a joke.I saw one. Ask to see yours BEFORE U buy. It looks like a grocery list made by a student. Simple items listed like : Tires, Radio, Lights, battery dead?, car starts, etc. The one I saw had a simple check mark by each item, no notes, certainly NOT an in depth inspection. ( I expect to have tires with air, working battery, no cracks in glass). Best part is it was signed by Charlie the Garage & Mechanic Manager.
I also found out that CHARLIE is PART OWNER of the business.
Of course he will back up Tony and do the min.
It affects his compensation. Got this info reading busn license reviews.
Buyer Beware.

My dad just bought a Mustang from a guy here in California that originally bought it from Flemings. That guy lost his shirt over it. He paid $30, 000 for a car that we talked him out of for $13, 000. Supposedly the car was a 1966 Mustang with a GT350 clone kit on it. In one of the carsbyjeff YouTube videos about this car he claims it has a hood scoop and side scoops, only in reality they are purely cosmetic with no functional value. Just bolted on accessories. Jeff is careful never to say it has a 289 Hipo but the air cleaner has the Hipo sticker on it seeming to imply that it's a Hipo. There was some rust on the doors that may or may not have come from Flemings. The previous owner actually suspected the car was left out in the rain during transport and that caused the rust. In any case the body work is a bit suspect.

There are some positives which is why we bought it despite seeing all that is wrong with it. For one, the interior is in super nice shape. The motor runs pretty well even if it's not a Hipo. It's still a 289 that is clean and tight with great torque. The exhaust is is pretty nice and already installed. All of that put together was enough to convince us to buy it and get it to where it should have been for $30K from Flemings. We'll get there for less. Buyers beware these guys at Flemings may have some great cars but they bend the truth liberally about some of them.

In February of 2012 I purchased a 1969 Olds 442 from Flemings Ultimate garage.

It was sold as...

"Just completed (Sep 2011), no expense spared restoration w/ all new sheet metal (fenders, quarters and floors), matching #s Olds 400cid V-8 @ 290hp, original Muncie 4-speed trans w/ factory Hurst shifter + new clutch, original Olds HD 3.73 Posi-Traction rear diff, new mirror finish Saffron yellow paint w/ black stripes, brand new black bucket seat interior w/ factory console, rally dash w/ full gauges &Tic Toc tach, brand new great sounding dual exhaust, fast ratio power steering, power disc brakes, all new chrome & stainless trim, correct Super Stock wheels w/ fresh BFG radial T/As, show detailed engine compartment
& trunk"

This car has been driven less than 200 miles. Is garaged 24/7.

The brand new quarters and fenders are rusting and full of bondo. The body is absorbing pain showing the ORIGINAL color of the car which is GREEN not the yellow they claimed. The car has areas that are rusting through. The paint is cracking. Has dried paint drips through out the lower car.

The brakes lock up. The brand new rear end is not brand new and is fact shot. The exhaust knocks and the water pump is shot.

This car was sold as a drivable show able car. It is none of the above. The owner has conatacted Flemings to try and resolve this matter but only to be told that the warranty bragged about on all cars sold by Flemings is non exisitant and they have been not lived up to their claims of making customers happy with their purchase.
