Florian Accounting
Florian Accounting work experience training scam Sydney, Australia
5th of Sep, 2011 by User324462
Florian Accounting runs the notorious work experience and training scams in NSW, VIC and QLD. They make uni students think after attending their training and work experience courses and paying thousands of dollars they can easily get jobs with Coco Hou offering to be your work experience referee. The course content is garbage and recruiters reject you for using the fake references provided by Florian Accounting (they tell you to remove Florian Accounting). The company isn't even an accounting company. It is just a uni student work experience scam. You turn up and its just full of students who are paying them to get fake references. When you call them up they are all very charming, but don't get sucked into paying these scammers. Once they have your money, they don't do anything for you to help you get a job. They target chinese indian students because these people have bad english. The trainer at Brisbane has terrible english too. They target chinese students there since they cant speak proper english.

Totally agree with you! They are such con-artists, not even an accounting firm to begin with. All they do is mislead uni students and overseas people into thinking they will provide them with a job opportunity, but what they are really after is your money. At least charge a lower price, instead they charge you thousands of dollars. I have met with this people. I can't believe they are using confidential company accounts as well in their training programs and internships. Don't trust them!

They should be sued for using confidential company accounts without permission. One of the trainers at the company is called Jeff Florian. He must be the owner of the dodgy company. He claims to be a CFA charter holder. I reckon he should be investigated by the CFA institute for running such a dodgy company.

I represent Florian and the comments here are totally false on a number of grounds:

• We do not have any operations in Victoria
• We do not provide work experience, only an internship reference.
• We are an accounting firm that prepares tax returns and performs bookkeeping work for clients.

The comments above are unfounded and sound like they are from a disgruntled person. If you are unhappy, we are keen to work together to resolve your complaint.

We do not intend to deceive customers or the public. Any interested parties should contact Florian directly to confirm any of the above.

I lolz at the pathetic response by florian. What the hell is an internship reference if it doesnt involve work experience? A google search on florian accounting proves that they arent really a legitimate accounting firm. The internet is plastered with their advertizements for training and work experience and internship programs. They spend all their time promoting themselves on, bbs.tigtag.com, job4me.com.au, brisbane.gumtree.com.au, sydney.gumtree.com.au, bbs.snowpear.com, www.ozyoyo.com, www.jobsearch.com.au, www.internationalstudentforum.com... the list goes on and on and on with barely a mention about their supposed accounting services. Even their own website is all about their internships and training programs and bad english testimonials about how good their they are. They even pay for adwords on google to advertize on keywords like "accounting" and "experience" and "training" and "internship".

Florian definitely intends to deceive customers and the public. Any interested parties should do a Google search to confirm any of the above.

If Florian Accounting is really legitimate it would refund those unsatisfied with their training services. I remember enquiring with Harini Herat and she said that if you aren't satisfied within two days, you can get your money back less all the expenses paid for the materials. And the materials cost a lot! How would anyone know if their training service is good within two days?!

I guess Harini got tired with misleading the entire training package that she no longer works with Florian. As for the new Assistant Accountant (Selina), she still is keen on the NO REFUND POLICY. If you aren't satisfied you can repeat the entire training. I do not understand why anyone would repeat something that of less value. Of course, by then I can assure you that there will be ill feelings. It wouldn't be good to be surrounded in a tense environment. So you leave with regret, hole in your pocket and still at the jobless front.

If you do not intend to deceive customers or the public, then why don't you offer a refund? This is not at all ethical for a business. For the students who go to Florian, I can assure you no matter where you go when it comes with the training and internships - they are all the same. You can never be satisfied. Be careful. My advice, don't get involved with these programs. I think the professional year is a bit better.

And by the way, Selina has expressed that so far there aren't students who asked for a refund. Those who are unsatisfied please speak up. International students keep silent because they don't want to push the issue any further. They know they wouldn't be able to get back their money.

But silence is very misleading. Does this mean everyone is satisfied? I guess not!

How do you know that Selina is telling the truth. If you are part of the Florian scam you will not tell people that all your customers are asking for refunds in droves. Everyone knows you cannot get your money back after you have attended their useless training session. No one is going to ask for a refund after they realize that they didnt get anything useful out of it. they are all asking for a reference and hope that the employer will not know about the florian scam.

Did you know that Coco Hou (who apparently runs Florian Accounting) is not even a legit CPA Accountant? She claims herself to be CPA qualified, but a quick search online actually shows otherwise. Aussie Tax Time (which she now uses instead to advertise her services just so she could appear to be more legit), herself and those working under her are all scam artists working together to achieve one main goal: leave a hole in people's pockets. Beware of FLORIAN ACCOUNTING!

Hi guys, I can confirm that Florian Accounting is a scam company. My husband was booked in to attend the "training course and internship" there that costs $1500. I researched more about this company after a couple of people mentioned it sounded odd to have to pay for free work experience. Luckily before paying the money I found a number of Australian and American websites reporting this company as a scam. We then called 'Ms Coco Hou' to inform her we would like our $50 deposit back as we didn't trust that they were legit. Coco informed my husband that she could show him her CPA certificate and he could check out a training session for free to see for himself...she was very convincing claiming these allegations to be from a disgruntled worker who had left, opened her own business and then wanted to scare away Coco's business. We called the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and CPA Australia to confirm whether Coco Hou was a registered CPA, unsurprisingly they had no record of her. They mentioned that maybe she had changed her name to Coco and had another name that she was registered under. Calling Coco back, another employee answered and did not know Coco's real name.
Just to ensure you that Florian Accounting Internships are a SCAM, the man from the Instituted of Chartered Accounts said "IF YOU ARE ASKED TO PAY FOR AN INTERNSHIP STAY AWAY, IT IS A SCAM". In other words, you should not be paying for an internship where you would be providing free work to them.

Please people, research this and get wise. If you are from overseas and don't know where to contact, here are some useful numbers:

You could also contact your TAFE or University to inquire about the legitimacy of such offers.

My flatmate did training there and I got to look at some stuff she took home with her.
On one invoice there was this Coco person's Chinese name (Hou Yingke). After hearing what my mate said about the place and out of curiosity, I called CPA. They do have record on her Chinese name, but they cannot confirm she is CPA qualified, only that she is a member, whatever that means.

The other odd thing, I looked at the bank statements, the employees expense (wages and salary I suppose) was so ridiculously small, even for one employee and I suppose there are two or three of them? No wonder she said there was new 'so called trainer' all the time and the 'trainer' was used to be a trainee there! That means whoever was training my mate was some loser with no knowledge and experience and below minimum wage pay.

On top of that, on the Excel file that my mate copied, it was typed there this Coco Hou's title was only Assistant Accountant, not some high profile role she was supposed to be.

I wonder what Arnott's Capital would say if I phoned them about this Florian Accounting using their supposedly confidential information? Probably start suing their former Assistant Accountant?

What a screwed up place! Definitely a scam!

I am Jonas and was a trainee at Florian. When my mother overseas became sick and I had to return home and not sure if I was coming back to Australia. There was no problem in getting a refund from Coco. When I came back to Australia many months later I attend the course again and it was very helpful and the training was good quality. I know other people in the class enjoy it and find it useful. It sounds like a lot of the negative things written in this forum is not true.

I believe Florian is probably a scam after reading above comments. The people run such company are disgusting and ugly. They deceive money from the most vulnerable people - students and migrant from non English speaking background. These people are unconscienable and unethical. It is better to seek opportunity from government and legitimate education institution or legitimate company

If you go to this place, you'll be wasting huge amount of money that is better off spent on something else.
When I put Florian internship on my resume, I was either asked:
"What is this Florian doing? Because we have so many candidates from Florian apply for this job" OR
did not even get a response at all.
I finally decided to cross Florian off of my resume, and voila, I got a job.
For your own sake, do not waste time and money in this place, plus the teachers, Coco in particular, are so impatient whenever any of us asks any questions. Sometimes when we insist on knowing the reason we do the task, they even say "Just do it that way, why you have to ask so many questions". Makes me suspect they actually do not have the knowledge, so pretty much just avoiding the questions. Reading the above comment that Coco was only Assistant Accountant, not Financial Controller like she always claims, now I know why.

Coco is a snake for ripping off desperate students like that. They claim they dont mislead people but they have... read this forum to see why they are a fake company... http://www.gradconnection.com.au/forums/thread/advice-for-international-students/internship-scam/?page=last

i checked Florian Accounting and all they do is tempt you with internship and job so that your CV looks good but then when you get serious they ask for $1500 from you for "training" purposes. It is so bulls**t trying to rip you off and cheating you. Took a closer look on their website and internet and they actually dont do much real accounting they sell internships. Its not an accounting firm at all.
