I purchased furniture from the then still in business Fortunoff back in 2007. The salesperson completing the sale offered Guardman with a brochure from Fortunoff and one from Guardsman. The only difference is the Fortunoff one is glossy and Guardsman prints theirs on a 11x17 sheet of paper. In the last couple of weeks I contacted Guardsman about a rip in the fabric of my cushion and I sent a picture at their request. I have since received a response in a form letter dated August 16, 2011 with 'We are unable to service your request' checked off and following that 'Outdoor Chaise/Lounge-Fabric - Damages caused by defects in material or workmanship are not covered under the terms of the protection plan.' When I contacted the company they stated that after reviewing the picture they determined the cushion's fabric is frayed. The rip in the fabric is far from a damage caused by defects in the material or workmanship. Per the Protection Plan I reported the claim within five days of it occurring. I went straight to Guardsman, a company so lazy that it requests a picture to be sent to prove there is a claim. Guardsman in response to the picture states that the rip in the cushion is frayed, when it is not frayed but rather it's a rip. Guardsman - the company who's only guarding their pocket and lining their pocket by having companies sell you a worthless protection plan that costs more than it would cost to replace anything they will allow to be claimed.
