I answered an ad on craigslist for skilled trades and accepted a position on July 6, 2011 as an hourly wage employee for IRCC Ltd. working with Mr Tim Kennedy on a Starbucks store and a private home renovation. He told me I would be paid on the 15th and 30th of each month. When the 15th came I asked for my pay and he told me he withholds two weeks and I would not be paid until the 30th. I told him that was not acceptable and was not what I was told when he hired me so he advanced me $500.00. On the 30th I asked for my pay and was told he "would have meet up with me... after the weekend". He met me and gave me other $800.00 I was owed over $3000.00. I was then informed by one of Mr Kennedy's colleagues that he has a history of not paying his workers. I researched Mr Kennedy and found a long list of unpaid workers. I continued to call Mr Kennedy and ask when I would receive the remainder of my pay. My calls went unanswered for several weeks and then around mid to late August Mr. Kennedy called me to say he is bankrupt and will not be paying me. I also know his home address so I googled it and came up with phone numbers and a list of other businesses he has operated in the past. I have contacted the police because this guy is a fraud he hires people with no intention of paying. The police will not do a damn thing! I have filed a claim with the Ministry of Labour and sent a registered letter to his home demanding payment. I have talked to the home owner and general contractor who hired him and he was paid for my work and has pocketed my money.
