Lynne's Subaru
Lynne's Subaru customer fleecing Bloomfield, New Jersey
13th of Dec, 2010 by User876311
The lights on the dashboard of my 08 Subaru Impreza began solid burning around the last week in October of 2010. This was almost one month after my car had hit debris in the road (top half of a concrete barrier that had been broken off) on Route 3 East near the Clifton/Rutherford border. I wasn't sure if it was related to the accident or not.

I took my vehicle to Lynne's Subaru in Bloomfield as it was nearer my home (I purchased the vehicle at Ramsey Subaru when I was doing my internship near-by).

The did a diagnostic and stated that the ABS Pump was broken. The ABS Pump part costs $1,450.00 and with labor it was going to cost $1,700.00 to replace. I called the auto-body place, and the owner assured me that he had personally inspected the motor interior and nothing was broken. He reminded me too that he had repaired my family's cars for decades and would never send us off with something defective in the motor. He recommended I take my car to another Subaru dealer. Upon hearing I was not going to do the repair at Lynne's Subaru, I was charged $365.00 for the diagnostic.

I didn't use my vehicle for a large part of November (on vacation) but upon returning home, made an appointment with Subaru near where I now work.

On December 13, 2010, Subaru did their diagnostic (cost of $95.95) and found that a torn harness in the bulkhead of the right front fender (the fender that was repaired) was causing the Speed Sensor to malfunction and that was the reason the dashboard lights came on. It was a $750.00 repair.

I pointedly asked if the ABS Pump was operating, and I was advised nothing was wrong with the ABS Pump (I didn't mention that the car had been seen by Lynne's Sabaru).

I am disputing the diagnostic charge on my credit card, and of course will make my vehicle available for inspection, should anyone want to see if the ABS Pump is "original" and operating.

I thoroughly believe that Lynne's Subaru knew what was actually wrong, but saw an opportunity to double the cost of the repair by stating that a more EXPENSIVE part needed to be replaced.

If you own a Subaru, deal with Subaru. DO NOT utilize the services of Lynne's Subaru.
