Manpower Movers Joe Giuntini (CEO) Manpower Moving and Storage INC Unaccountable, Unprofessional, Insulting & Rude San Diego, California
16th of May, 2011 by User711575
On April 29th 2011, we had packers, and the actual move date was the 30th, so we ordered two days of service. My husband works for CSC (DoD civilian contractor with 10 years prior active duty service) and lives in Afghanistan appx 11mos of the year, we have two young children. There were some issues with the movers in general; such as no matter how much I asked them not to, using their pre-used boxes they could bill me for instead of the boxes I pre-ordered at a better rate, as per Mike's (the other guy in the office) suggestion. Spilling coffee on the carpet and not cleaning or saying anything about it, which we'll have to pay for. Literally helping themselves to whatever in the fridge and leaving the trash anywhere but in a trash can. Of course there were things that got broken in the move, though it was literally only across the street. Broken lamps, cracked mirrors, scratched wood. But the main complaint was the damage to our LG blu ray home theater and master bed. They cut All of the wires to every speakers instead of rolling them (or asking me about it or to roll them if they didn't know how). They tried to tell me it was because they were stapled, but I personally installed it, and it was done with zip ties in one neat continuous bundle, not secured to or through or under anything (carpet, walls, etc). So I knew they were lying to me about them being too secured for them to just pack up. At the end of moving day, I noticed a large block of solid finished hardwood that is part of my bed was broken and splintered completely lengthwise, close to the junction of the footboard so that it has the potential to break if jostled (I have pictures of All damages and evidence for the claims). They tried to tell me it must have been broken before and just re-broke, then they said someone must have kicked it (pics will show that is impossible). It's very obvious that it was dropped or had another part dropped on it Very hard. One of the first things I tried to unpack the next day was the living room entertainment for my kids, even though we couldn't use the speakers since we had no wires. They put the main unit from the living room in a box Under two old, broken CPU units from the shed without padding, other than a sheet or two of flat paper. The main living room box had been packed very well, I have photos of both for comparison. I watched how they slid the boxes down the stairs during the move, so I was instantly nervous when I realized it how much weight it was under, the force of the stair drops and lack of shock insulation. There were noticeable, deep dents. I instantly plugged it in, and it couldn't play any discs. It could recognize it, but not play. The day of the packing, the movers requested music, and I said so when I later made the claim and they tried to accuse me of it being broken already. I gave away a ton of electronics and other things (color infant video monitor, LCD computer screens, wireless keyboards and speakers, designer strollers and infant gear, even a shelf stereo system, and the list goes on) to the movers, if it were broken, that would have been up for grabs too. I called them and emailed a formal complaint and photos That Day. At first they said they knew a wood guy who could fix the bed and would send the Blu Ray to LG Factory for repairs and buy new wires, since it would be so expensive to actually replace the system (not that we asked them to replace it or pay for it). A week later, they pick up the box. 5 days after that, they call to say they opened it themselves because they could hear a rattling sound and found a coin sized toy (it has happened before, we do have a 2 year old, its never had an effect and I've taken them out w/ no issue) so he just wanted to take it to a closer electrician instead of LG. I was upset that they, not the owner nor the professional without asking or notifying me opened my device after shaking it around for a week, trying to avoid the diagnostic and repair fees. They then sent it to a "friend" electrician who of course said it was the player, not their damage. When I told them that wasn't acceptable, they could send it to LG as agreed and if they deemed it my fault or natural wear down, I would gladly pay the fees. They became rude and began to insinuate that we were just trying to get some kind of freebie, when they were the ones avoiding a measly $79 diagnostic when we just paid them $1900 plus tips. From there, they became very rude, and when I said I would post my experience everywhere I could if they didn't make it right, they took it upon themselves to misuse a reference and call them to say I was slandering them and they were paying out on a claim, both of which were completely untrue, since my experience is valid, I had yet to actually post any comments while waiting on the insurance, and they weren't paying anything. My reference called me and Joe admitted it in an email by saying "if you don't want it called, don't list it. you're right, you aren't slandering, you're online liable us" (he meant 'libel') after previously demanding "credentials" for my work and implying we were some cheap tricky folks. I had yet to post anything at all, since we started working with their insurance after I said I would post my experience. Even if I did, I tried to get them to understand that listing a bad experience is not equivalent to slander or libel just because they dont like what I have to say. They called my reference before I posted anything, and I didn't have any intent to still do so until they did that and then refused to even apologize for it. Thereby committing the very offense they were accusing me of, and going out of their way to do so. It wasn't about money, we bought a new system because they were taking forever and are paying out of pocket for the wood repair as well since they canceled it. The service, the attitude, the insults, the lies, were Absolutely inexcusable. They should not be operating in San Diego. Worst move ever, and we've moved coast-to-coast. I intend on notifying every affiliate and review board or forum I can. I have all proof, correspondence, photos, and original boxes.
