Mile High Towing
Mile High Towing and Recovery Mike Nowlin Towing Scam at 765 Logan Street Denver Denver, Colorado
25th of Jun, 2011 by User691525
On June 25th, 2011 my wife, nephew and I were attending an outdoor movie at Governor's Park. I was in a cast with crutches and they helped me across the street. The car had a handicap placard inside. After helping me to the park, my wife returned to pay the parking fee only to find the car had been towed - within 10 minutes after arriving!! The outrageous towing fee was $250!! The internet is full of complaints on this towing company. They are working with the private lot owner to take hundreds of dollars from innocent drivers. They are not allowed to tow until 1/2 hour has passed so the driver may get proper change. I am filing a small claims action against this company and would appreciate any one else who has been similarly victimized by this scam to contact me.

The same happened to me at Alameda and Irving - today, 07/09/2011, at 3 pm.
Parked my car at a deserted lot of a credit union (closed at the time), went to a neighboring store, got out 10 min later only to discover that the car was gone. Called 911 to report a stolen car, and they told me that it was not stolen but towed by MHTR.
The fee was $275.
There were MHTR warning signs on the lot about unauthorized vehicles "towed at owner's expense" etc. However, I wonder if that was legal for them to do. It was after banking hours, the giant parking was empty, and the parking is free anyway.
Can we get a lawyer's opinion on this?

The same thing happened to me at Alameda and Irving on August 9, 2011. I parked in the nearly empty parking lot of the West Denver Community Credit Union and, literally, ran into the ARC thrift store. I came back a short time later to find my car gone. I called Milehigh Towing and Restoration (not to be confused with Mile High Towing which is a reputable company) and was told by a very rude man that they had my car and it would cost $275 in cash to get it back. The next day I visited the manager of the ARC thrift store and learned that the parking lot of the West Denver Community Credit Union always has lots of room available. The speed at which this all happened makes me suspect collusion between the towing company and this business. I also spoke to the manager of the credit union. Her response was "too bad. so sad." I can tell you one thing: that credit union will never see a penny of my money.

My suggestion is to file a complaint with the Colorado attorney general. Their web address is: www.colorado.attorneygeneral.gov. You can also call the governor's advocate to inquire if there is a mimimum time the tow people must wait before they tow. If there is no minimum time, there should be and that is something you can lobby for.

I want this complaint to go to Mike at mile hi towing.

My name is Kiana Chowning. I am not a person of revenge; but I believe in the American Constitution and the power of Jesus. I want Mike to know that one year from his theft including papers, medications, and clothes, and granmother's hand painted china--- I am still petitioning for a supreme court case and want you to serve time in jail no matter if you are quaker or not. You did not strike me as someone who fears the Lord; but I want to inform you. God is on my side. After the three Indian nuns gave me lip hair and left me without my property and car-- God sent floods to India. After I wrote to the White House two days ago and stood up for His word and law---God cracked the Washington DC monument with an earthquake. I want you to know that I am one of God's precious children and whether you face prison or not---you will be judged at the pearly gates. I am a Patriot and I consider you a traitor.

God Bless (enjoy your family time before I take you to the Justice system that was created by God).

I had the same thing happen in a closed business at 1:55 AM...it is absurd. This is obviously a scam and it looks like some of the business are in on it. The business lot I parked in was Go Green Wheels on South Broadway.

so i almost hit mike last friday night. I was passing through denver on my way to a bike race in pueblo, i'm from steamboat springs and my car was full of bags and bikes very obvious that i am not local. I stopped for walk through chinese food, one of those by the scoop places with my 2 year old son. i was gone for less than 10 minutes. came back car was gone, called mike told me it would be 270 dollars. told him that was absurd and asked if he hooked up while i was walking away with my infant child. he said yes sir the driver watched you walk away. told him i'm from out of town and asked if he thought it was okay to leave someone stranded on colfax on foot with a toddler. he said he thought it was funny as h*ll. told him i'd like to meet the towtruck driver that would do such a thing and give him a piece of my mind. asked where i needed to go to pick up the car told me in a purposely mumbled voice some address i couldn't understand. took about five minutes to get the address from him, he was obviously messing with me. some number on a side street asked him what it was near he told me 38th and i25. told him i'm from out of town and needed directions. he told me that wasn't his problem. this was 10pm and i'm on foot with my infant son. eventually i get down there. he rolls up with the driver that took the car and i ask the driver if he thought it was okay to leave someone stranded in the middle of the night with a toddler, he says he didn't see me walk away with a toddler. at this point my sons mother asks mike why he lied to me on the phone about the driver watching me walk away with my son. mike calls her a c*nt and says it wasn't the driver it was him watching us over a video camera and says he loves his job because he "makes fat stacks off of little b*tches like me" and asks what my punk *ss is going to do about it. At this point mike almost got hit. I ended up paying him as i didn't need to go to jail, while the driver is getting my car he repeats how much he loves his job and says he claimed over $300K on income taxes last year and pulls out a wad of cash, says its $6500 he took off of chumps like me that night. This guy belongs in prison. Or even better he needs to be robbed, anyone reading this that wants to make some quick money by robbing a car thief, the guy is stupid enough to carry around allot of cash and meet people on the side of the street in the junkyard district in denver. I suggest parking a car thats not in your name in one of his lots let it get towed go meet and rob him. I hope to read about his robbery in the newspaper soon.
