Peggy Stephen VRBO rental scam Destin, Florida

We are regular visitors to Mexico Beach/St. Joe Beach, Florida. As a last minute decision, during the week of of July 1st to the 8th, we decided to rent the property on VRBO - http://www.vrbo.com/130782 (no longer listed for some reason). Primary address: 6614 east hwy. 98 port st. joe , florida We rented this property, since almost all properties we rented that week. Besides the fact that the place was run down, old, and not at all comfortable (contrary to what was advertised), we lived with the fact that we were lucky to find a place and resorted to the thought it was merely a place to sleep. There was no "Customer Service" feel during our interaction with the owner and this maybe normal for VRBO. However, we did not receive our deposit back after several queries (we left the house the way it was prior to day 1). The owner did respond our deposit was on its way, but seemed to have "forgotten" based on additional emails. It was also particularly odd that the cashed the deposit check as well as the rental fee right away. To the owner: If you are reading this, please send back the deposit ASAP or respond as to why the delay.

Wow, thanks for posting this because we got royally ripped off by the last VRBO rental we did in at 1560 Lakeside Drive, Dunedin, FL, with pretty much the same story with different details. Looks like the Scamerellas peddling their rentals were both real estate agents, too, all cute and fluffy but check your wallet because she was a pro.

i find this weird considering the house was not rented last year at that time.
