Pulblish Sold my book to other companies in Europe and India, misappropriating their contractural agreement. I receive no royalties Internet
7th of Oct, 2011 by User910853
Publish America published my manuscript "for one dollar." In the contract, they agreed to put the published work product in several book stores throughout the United States. The next thing I knew, I found out they were promoting it on Amazon.com. People were buying the book on line and I would receive "royalty" payments in extremely small amounts, e.g., $1.28 or $4.00. When I emailed them and asked questions, they became verbally abusive and emailed me with veiled threats of what would happen to me if I did not "promptly apologize." Recently, someone informed me that my book was available to "publish on line" in India. I also discovered another company in the U.K. was selling the book on their website. It appears that this book was selling because up until 2010, every time I looked at Amazon.com, the book was out of stock. I contacted Publish America again and they responded to me like a common street thug. They sent me stupid and moronic responses and told me my contract had expired and that the books were "pulled from the shelves." This, to me, is a blatant lie. It appears that Publish America has sold rights to these foreign countries and someone, somewhere is making profits from this book, and it sure is not me. When I contacted them they appropriated the same childlike and babyfied language to respond to a very valid inquiry I made. They also made a veiled threat if I did not "apologize." Someone finally answered my simple question, and when I read the email, I could tell it was a blatant lie and that they were trying to cover up the truth about what they had done with my manuscript. The contract (if it ever was legitimate) has expired. Now other countries in Europe and India are selling my manuscript on line and I receive no royalties. If anyone can offer any honest assistance, I would appreciate it. In the interim, if anyone is considering using this abusive gangster style corporation for manuscript publication, I strongly urge you to reconsider. These people are fraudulent, and you will indeed be "ripped off."
