Ron's Total Restoration
Ron's Total Restoration Ronald Lucido, Breaks into homes while working a job Shelton, Connecticut
16th of Mar, 2011 by User941348
I live in a condo complex. A few years back, the roof to our building was replaced. I don't go into my attic that often so it wasn't until last year that I noticed something odd. The "contractor" had cut out a huge circle, large enough for a person to fit through, with no apparent reason or use for the hole. They just pieced it back together. At the time, I thought nothing of it. With the recent storms we had this past winter and hearing of all the local roof collapses, I thought to check on the hole. It was sagging into my attic and I was worried about a leak. I then contacted the management company that then sent out the maintenance individual. Upon inspecting the hole, he made a comment that it looked like it was cut for someone to enter my home and that there was no other explanation for a hole that size because it was much too large for a chimney pipe or other use. They then contacted Ron from Ron's Total Restoration to have him place some form of support structure to keep it from falling in. This was about 2 months ago from today. When he came, he denied that he was the roofer that had replaced this roof and stated that he knew he did some buildings but not mine but that he would fix it if necessary. He took some pieces of wood from an old bed frame I had in the attic and nailed them across the hole, and then from the ceiling where the hole was to the floor of the attic. I asked him what the purpose of a hole that size would be and he couldn't come up with any answers. I mentioned to him the idea of someone cutting it with the intention of entering my home and he agreed that could be quite possible. It was arranged at that time that when the warmer weather arrived, he would come back to make the necessary repairs. He was instructed at that time to call me PRIOR to completing any work as it left my home wide open to the contractors. He agreed that he would do so. The management company also told him to call me prior both through verbal instruction and in the work order. Now that the weather is warmer, I figured he should be coming sometime soon. I called my management company yesterday to ask when he would be coming and the woman replied that he already came and seemed confused that I wasn't aware and that I hadn't received any phone calls from him. Today, I went into the attic to see if the boards were still nailed down and to remove them. When I went into my attic, the first thing that I noticed was that a lot of my insulation had been pulled up and removed. Mostly, the insulation directly above my bed. It had been rolled up from the edge of the exterior wall all the way to the wood where you can walk in my attic. Also, the insulation when I first went up my stairs into the attic that was covering the electrical wires had been moved. The wood that was supporting the hole was gone. I called the association and explained my concerns. She contacted Ron. Then she called me back. She stated that Ron said that they never entered my home and that he let the boards fall into the house. He also claimed that the boards must have moved the insulation. She stated that he would be calling me soon. He called me about an hour later and I confronted him on my suspicions. He laughed and stated that he never entered my home. When I asked how he got the boards out, he stated that he pulled them out from the roof. When I asked about the insulation, he stated, "Why would we pull up your insulation? Did you have money under there? Did you think there were cameras under there?" And he proceeded to make a joke of the situation. The conversation became pretty heated and I directly accused him of entering my home and his reply was, "I've been doing this for years. I could get into any condo through the roof if I really wanted to. If I was going to get into a house and steal, I would go to a house that has much better stuff worth taking than yours." Please make note - he hasn't been in my home to see what I have except for when I let him in to secure the hole at which point he only saw a quick view of my living room and my hallway but he couldn't see any electronics, collectibles, etc from where he was standing. During the same conversation, I said to him that I knew he had been in my home but that I knew he wouldn't admit to me and his reply was, "nope!". I hung up on him at some point, called my association and left a message, and then called my local police department. Unfortunately, because I haven't noticed anything missing, there's nothing the local authorities can do. I'm hoping that somehow, someway, someone can help me. This isn't once but twice that this same person violated me and my home. Other people need to be aware that this is how he abuses his business, his power, and the trust that his clients have in him.
