Sittercity makes a big deal about giving a FREE TRIAL! So you sign up, then fill out an ad for babysitting, pet sitting, etc. that you need. You are given a web page that shows the interested parties. But guess what? You can't contact them! Everything you look at on the page says "Upgrade". Contact them - Upgrade. Background check - Upgrade. What is the point of a free trial if you can't even contact the sitter? Not a free trial - really a peek into the workings of the site. This is deceptive.

Seeing recurring monthly bills on my AMEX from Sittercity, I asked my wife about it and she said she signed up for a 1-month free trial.
We called Sittercity.com and calmly told them we ahve been billed for the past 5 months. The woman responded like she takes our kind of call all day long. "Sittercity states the free trial will be automatically renewed every month...we will issue you a refund for the past 3 months".

I wonder how much of their quarterly revenues are from folks like us. It is especially frustrating from a business who I am trusting to introduce me to someone who will potentially care for my kids.

I blocked the merchant from my AMEX card for 4 years (longest possible time with AMEX).

By the way, sketchy website, no corp info or mgmt team listed at all. VCs are Point Judith Capital, Apex Venture Partners, Baird Venture Partners and New World Ventures.
