I had a text message. The sender was "john" normally when a stranger texts you it just shows their number, because it displayed the name "John" (I have 3 Johns in my contact list) I clicked to open message assuming it was a contact of mine,
The preview pane reads "Is this your missus on f?kbook?"
Thinking it was a reliable source and my missus was cheating on me I opened the message immediatley my phone went straight to a porn site, not the one mentioned in the text message. I kept hitting back button to get off it. My missus wasn't on there by the way!
Within moments of opening that textmessage I get a text every ten minutes without fail £1.50 a go to recieve them, so I have a 1 month old htc desire hd smartphone racking up £9 per hour for a service I did not request or accept any terms and conditions for.
This is fraud and theft as far as im concerned, I have been in touch with 3 my network provider and told them I have cancelled the direct debit and until the matter is resolved I wont be paying the bill.
I have tried texting STOP and & STOP ALL to the number I am recieving them from which is 69026.
I have recieved the text stating I am removed from further mailings but they continue to arrive every ten minutes
At no point was I made aware that I was going to be charged for anything.
Based on my Google research, the number can be traced back to switchfire.
The only way to stop the bill clocking up is to turn my phone off. It is already upto £60 in the space of 12 hrs, obviously I have not had the phone permanentely on for the twelve hrs or it would be higher than that.
I am in cardiff, Switchfire is in London. Personally I would rather spend the £60 on fuel to go there and thump (or worse) the villian responsible.
I will be escillating this as far as I can.
I wish you all success in getting your monies refunded.
I can no longer use my phone, the inconvenience of this is huge for me, some scumbag is living of these immoral earnings. I am completley astounded that this sort of nonsense is allowed to happen.
This would not be allowed to happen if it was for example an electrical retailer calling at your door, ringing the doorbell and you having to buy whatever garbage they are selling just because you opened the door. Thats all I did was simply open the door to this garbage unknowingly of course.
On the other hand if they had been open and honest about the content, if the message read for example " by opening this text you agree to pay £9 per hour for porn you are not recieving " then I could of simply deleted the nonsense and got on with the rest of my life, instead of this and due to the fraudulent way in which this has been landed on me, I assume I will be spending the next few weeks on the phone listening to call centre music, excuses and wondering when 3 will be sending the baliffs round to take my childrens food out of their mouths because I cancelled the direct debit.
I will not simply pay up and try to reclaim the money at a later date, I know I am in the right and in my opinion a victim of a crime therefore I sall not pay in the first place. |

I have just realised that the text messages on my phone from Juicywin.com had been charging me £4.50 a week.
I only got to know this because I am a pay as you go user and had run out of money so they could not get any more from me. My phone came up saying I had no money left so could not open the text.
Good job I am only on pay as you go or it could have gone on and on.
I managed to phone the company from the home phone on 08444457707. don't know what this cost?
Was told that I had agreed to pay this weekly fee to get an entry into a prize draw, I said I had no idea that I had done that or agreed to any on going payments.
Apparrently it has been going on for 3 weeks, so told them to take me off whatever and I said that this must be a really underhand scam.
I asked if I could have my money back and was told that I had a text asking me if I agreed and they say that I replied YES, I have no knoweldge or memory of doing this.
Please broadcaste this as far as you can around the country.
I have found another telephone for them, 02077982800 by going into the alterntive number web site.
This site showed the company name as SWITCHFIRE. The lady on the phone I spoke to said the company name was SB7.
SEEMS WE ARE JUST ONE OF THE MANY THAT HAVE BEEN CAUGHT OUT BY THIS SCAM. There must be many who have been done out of much more money than us, good job I was on pay as you go.
I am going to destroy my sm card and get another and another number - the safest way of ensuring that they (the scammers) do not reactivate the scam.
An annoyed 80 year old. |
