| The Preachers House in Gatlinburg, TN seemed so wonderful and helpful at first. I scheduled wedding for October 2010. Seven months prior to my wedding we cancelled our wedding due to a unexpected pregnancy. I understood that my deposit was a non-refundable. Casie advised me that I have one year from my wedding date to use my 300.00 balance (I have emails with this conversation documented). Recently I emailed and left messages to schedule a family photo shoot to use my 300.00 balance. No return calls or emails. Then I received an email from Casie stating that I had one year from my cancellation date not my wedding date and do not contact them about this situation again. I just cannot believe that they can get away with this and treat me like this. I don't know what to do at this point other than write this review to warn people before choosing them for their wedding destination. |

The Preachers House performs over 40+ weddings per month for couples who visit the Great Smoky Mounain area. Our policies concerning refunds are clearly defined in our booking confirmations.
Anyone who posts negative comments concerning cancellation policies or refunds has clearly not read their paperwork. We have signed documentation from the negative postings that states that they understand our polices and have read and agreed to them. Please keep in mind that we strive to offer our customers great services at a reasonable price. Besides, who books a wedding, reserving a minister, photographer, venue & special services and expects a refund? Does that even make sense? This is not Wal-Mart it is a Wedding. We gave this person one year from the date of CANCELLATION- not their wedding date (which our policy clearly states one year, not a year and a half!) and now they are mad because they waited beyond the one year mark.
We feel that we went above and beyond what was expected giving this person a year from their cancellation date to use their paid monies. Just because we are Christian doesn't mean we are here to be taken advantage of. I hope this clarifies the circumstances surrounding this complaint & slanderous comments. We did ask this person not to contact us any further since they refused to acknowledge our policies that they signed and agreed to and threatened that we would do what they said. Asking them not to contact us any further was the only option since they continued to harass our staff. This person informed us at that time that they would post as much negative comments online as they possible could since we would not do what they wanted. I think it is clear to see the type of person this is making these rediculious comments. If we were such a bad company and did such business practices we would not still be in business and would have many, many, many other negative postings. Not just someone and their sister writing mean things.
