I received two Vanilla Reward Cards from Twin River Casino in Rhode Island I gave one to a waitress for doing great during this year as an extra "tip". I recently tried to use the other one in a grocery store for the $20.00 that it stated for the value amount. The card was denied. They could not check what the amount was on the card at this store. I had to send a text message to the person I gave the other card to and tell them I checked online at home and found out there was an activation service charge of $2.50 already taken out. Then I read further (fine print) the charge is applied every month. So, if you have them, use them fast and don't buy any more.

I also received two Vanilla Visa Gift cards. I have not been able to use them anywhere. I just spent a half hour (mostly on hold) with Customer Service. Because I have been unable to use the cards, I have incurred the 2.50 per month charge to the tune of $25. I know my friend will not be happy to hear that the card balances have been reduced. Gift Cards from any other retailer in Canada are no longer legally allowed to deduct fees. I think it's time for a class action suit! At the very least, people, please stop purchasing these cards!
