WALMART PREPAY MONEY CARD WILL NOT FIX DUPLICATED CHARGES AFTER BEING CONFIRMED AS DUPLICATED Internet

My husband and I have been using a Walmart prepay moneycard for almost 2 years. We have never had a problem with it up until now. Here's our story: On my payday recently my check was deposited as always. I paid, which I always do, online my car payment and electric bill. Then was contacted about a charge trying to go through my card that was not recognized (which eventually after all this we finally figured out), I asked to be able to go withdraw the rest of my pay before they reported the card as compromised and had it replaced. This was on the 1st. I contacted them later that afternoon and let them know they could go ahead and lock the card and send me a new one with a new number (which I am still waiting on). Knowing that I would have to wait for the card I did not access the acct until the 12th to get their contact number to find out WHEN my new card was supposed to be delivered. You would NOT believe the SHOCK and HORROR I felt when I saw that there was a NEGATIVE balance of $577! I literally FELL out of my chair. I immediately called customer service after investigating WHY there was a negative amount and told them they had DUPLICATED two of the charges on the card. One was an ATM withdraw, which if you have a Walmart prepay card you KNOW for a fact you cannot withdraw ANY MONEY if the card is at a zero balance PLUS THE CARD HAD ALREADY BEEN LOCKED THE DAY BEFORE THE CHARGES OCCURRED (which show on the 2nd). After explaining this to SEVERAL customer service reps I was finally told that it would be CORRECTED THE NEXT DAY. YEA! I was good with that, understand system errors and crap happens. I logged into the acct the next day to confirm that the correction had been made.... IT STILL SHOWED NEGATIVE $192! They had only corrected PART of the duplicate charges, the ATM withdraw (being tied to the FDIC, I guess they found that one important, mind you if this was not corrected it leaves them open to a federal investigation seeing that because it is not tied to Walmart money card directly but to a banking institution outside of GE moneybank it has be corrected within 48 hours due to the contract). SO AGAIN TO THE PHONE WE GO, called the customer care reps and explained they had corrected PART of the problem and they still had the car payment showing twice. They INSISTED this was due to the car company double charging the payment. So I called the car company and verified they had only received ONE payment, I also contacted PAYPAL who the car company receives the payments through and verified they only PRODUCED AND CHARGED ONE TIME ON THE 1ST AND THAT WAS IT. NOW to explain WHY this bothers me SO MUCH: TO SEE A NEGATIVE BALANCE ON THE CARD THAT MEANS THE PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE. Right? So if the car lot doesn't have the money, and PAYPAL doesn't have the money, WHERE DID THE MONEY GO? BACK TO THE PHONE AGAIN FOR THE 3RD TIME!! This time I asked to speak to supervisor, after waiting for 6 mins (hahaha) and explaining this for the UMPTENTH time, am told this issue will be corrected by JANUARY 31st! Oh yea! this makes me SO VERY HAPPY, being DAYS before Christmas with 3 kids and having my next check (which I didn't have time to stop from being deposited) coming in 2 days... so of course my answer is NO, fix it now. After 20 mins of this, being told the acct will be escalated to upper management; it should be corrected as soon as I have the new card and call them back to have it corrected with the new card information and the new card being activated. Mind you, they have already fixed $410 of this WITHOUT the new card. Nothing more I can do with them at the moment, I called my state congressman, was politely informed that due to the fine print 30 day contract they have 30 days to correct this issue (here I want to point out that today is the 14th of DECEMBER and Walmart card person stated that it would be corrected by the 31st of JANUARY, um this IS longer than 30 days, right?) and the congresses can't do anything about that, BUT they have received several other calls about this issue from the state of Arkansas alone. So after doing a little bit of research and coming into this information we have discovered that this is a nationwide problem, I also came across another persons post about THIS VERY SAME thing (this person being from Arizona) where he had contacted an attorney's office in California. I went ahead and contacted this attorney's office and sent them screen shots of the original negative $577 and charges and the still now showing negative $192 charges where the ATM withdraw had been removed but the other charge remains. So again… where is my money and WHY is it so hard to correct something that is OBVIOUSLY their error. 12/14/11
