WEBS.COM MAJOR SERVER FAILURE:

For over 4 days, (this time around) Webs.com has been out of service for untold thousands of free and paying Customers, who depend upon webs.com for their livelihood.

This is site where someone can build a website with no HTML knowledge and they host it for you.

Webs.com has long history of system-wide failures. When their servers fail, webs.com traditionally blames their own server/infrastructure failures on external sources, like: the entire internet, all ISP's, users anti-virus programs, and anything else they can dream up.

Their "Customer service" is virtually non-existent. They treat all Customers, paying and otherwise like DIRT. They censor legitimate complaints, and are astoundingly rude and sarcastic to Customers.

Their web-building product does not even have a simple "undo" button, in case you make errors. Their "site builder' is not user friendly, and frequently loses valuable content, forcing webmasters to start all over on their site, or make frequent repairs. Making a site on their platform is quite tedious, and problematic.

When their servers fail, it costs their paying Customers sometimes many hundreds of dollars a day, and they refuse to refund the $15.00 monthly fee, regardless of your losses.

If you are trying to build and run an online business - be warned - DO NOT USE WEBS.COM!!!

I totally agree with everything said here. I had a site on webs.com which I made last July. This was a self-help group for people which was run at no charge by myself and was a free hosting, although I did pay for an increase in bandwidth, which has turned out to be a complete waste of money.
The whole of webs including my site broke down twice towards the end of 2010, then again there were problems in February 2011. Then in May, I became unable to view members profiles. I had around 1600 members at this time and finally decided to change webhosts.
I'm really glad I did so as the site has now failed yet again. I was in the process of pulling off forum information as webs were not prepared to let me download or transfer the data that had accumulated for my group over the year. Many people posted about this and time and again webs tried to pretend it was an isolated incident, asking for the time when you tried to access profiles 'so the engineers can identify the exact time of the problem occurring'. Well, the problem was continual, and when I kept trying and posting times I couldn't access the site, they banned me and said I was spamming the site by giving the information they had asked for.
If you want Customer dis-service and zero support coupled with an unhelpful, rude attitude, together with a site that frequently crashes, is regularly banned by ISPs as being a carrier of spam and/or viruses and a user interface that makes setup and management far more complex than it need be, use webs.
If you want a working website, go somewhere else! I now use enjin, which is great.

they will try to use your paid website to post google ads for their income. avoid this company. By the way, the do have 15 hours of support a week, 1pm-4pm weekdays, how gracious of them, you are screwed on the weekends, or you can talk to someone in India with no help unless you want to order and pay for something. Just go somewere else or git ripped off.

We too have had issues with Webs.com. We have a registered website with them and we came up for renewal in August of 2011. We renewed by paying the fee for a year and we did this 2 weeks before our expiration date in August. In Oct I went to update our next two months of calender events and found that we were not online. I contacted webs by the live chat and they informed me that i was indeed paid up but that I failed to register my domain. I paid them thinking they all would update everything and now we are locked out for a period of time, they told me they could get it up for a $300.00 fee or I could wait till the domain went public again. I waited for the period of time to pass and I went to Enom and purchased the domain back and now I have tried to contact webs.com to get it back up and running with no response except for a email stating that they will get back with me. Our website is a church website and I am not technically savvy and I hesistate to go to another provider since we have a paid 1yr subscription with webs.

When I first started using webs.com, it worked perfectly fine. Then after I paid for it, suddenly there were bugs galore. It would crash and I would have to start over, it would suddenly delete something for no apparent reason, it would refuse to save content and I would have to start over from scratch again, it would refuse to let me upload pictures and would say it can't find a picture I saved seconds ago, it would randomly change the color or size of words that I hadn't touched, it would suddenly skip around in a paragraph so that the words I typed would be out of order and randomly strewn all over the site, and it wouldn't let me go back. The supposed "undo button" is apparently there for decoration. it would work extremely slowly and it would sometimes refuse to let me in altogether. This site is horrible, and if it weren't for the fact that I have paid $200+ and I have invested too much to turn back and switch to a new site, I would have dropped it ever since ago. USERS BEWARE! Don't get sucked into the same trap as I did. Don't use this site, not even for free. EVER.
