Worldwide Transfer
Worldwide Transfer, Inc was unprofessional and irresponsible with our possessions. This directly led to our property being damaged. Wichita Falls,
23rd of Jun, 2011 by User809870
Below is a list of our grievances with Worldwide Transfer, Inc. We were told in the sales process by customer representative, Thomas, that all of the movers were extensively trained and professional. This was not the case. In fact, one of the two movers
that packed our things and helped load the truck turned out to be a hitchhiker that the truck driver picked up on the way to our house!! He had no packing or moving experience. At delivery, the truck driver was an employee of the company. The other mover was hired through Labor Ready, a day laborer staffing company. The hired laborers name was Alan Wood, and he indicated that he was an office worker who lost his job, and was just looking to make some money. He had no moving experience. Mr. Wood did comment that our property was poorly packed and poorly cared for in the move, and is willing to provide a statement to that effect. The movers/packers did not bring enough packing materials. The only packing materials they came with were boxes, packing paper, and pads. We provided some bubble wrap and shrink wrap, but this was used up and there was not enough. They did not go and buy any more packing supplies. The driver indicated that this was because he had no money to do so. In fact, we had to go purchase extra boxes and even a meal for the driver and mover because he had no money or access to resources. At delivery, I discussed the lack of packing supplies with the delivering driver (different from the pick-up driver). He indicated that the owner of the company, Bobby, is tight with the money and does not allow the drivers to purchase additional packing materiel. He indicated that they only get very limited moving supplies and have to make due. He said that this is driven by the owner to save costs. We were told by Thomas that our property would be driven to Overland Park, KS and stored. At that point, we were comfortable with the way the truck was loaded. The day before our items were delivered to our house, we found out that our things were actually stored in Minnesota and were in route to our new home in Kansas City. Upon delivery, we discovered that some of the property that was wrapped in padding at the pick-up was no longer wrapped. This carelessness resulted in property damage. The damaged printer (which we had to replace) and baby crib are two examples of these items that were unwrapped, and then damaged in the move. The delivery truck was not properly packed. After loading the boxes, all of the odd-shaped items were simply thrown in on top of the boxes. This resulted in many of these items being damaged. It also resulted in an unsecured smaller TV falling on our large TV, thereby damaging it (which had to be replaced). The wood frame of our couch was also broken and had to be repaired (pictures attached). We were not provided a delivery copy of the itemized list of contents/inventory. The only
inventory we were provided was the initial one via e-mail based on the telephone conversation/quote by Thomas. Our property insurance options were not reviewed with us by the truck driver/mover. We
were not given the option to purchase additional insurance. The alternative level of liability was
completed prior to their arrival. Were not provided a copy of the Bill of Lading at the pick-up or initial weigh-in. It was only provided at delivery, and only after our request. We were not provided with the Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move brochure. Based on the grievances above, we believe that Worldwide Transfer, Inc. is responsible for the damage to our property. We highly recommend that no one ever uses this moving company!
