CASTLE CREDIT/IONICS/TN WATER
Bottom Feeder
15th of Aug, 2011 by kmccann
My now husband closed on his house a year ago this month. About 2 months after closing (and before we were married) a company claiming they were our local water company called us to offer us a free water test as we had recently had a bad flood in the Nashville Area. A few days later, a woman called to say that I qualified for a free home water test . I accepted her offer, and a man showed up and tested the water the following day. It was a Sunday, at six p.m. He tested our water, said that we were basically poisoning our kids, guilt tripped us, and then refused to leave our home until we agreed to let him "work up an offer" on what a water system would cost. He even took bottled water from our fridge and tested it, stating that it was just as bad as our facet water. Having three small children, this man scared us to death. The man was still pitching and guilting at 11:30 that night! Anyway, I finally filled out what I believed was a no trial obligation, and now after reading it over, and it was a credit app. The man said he would run my credit and CALL me the next day with the offer of terms.

The next evening, I returned home to find a man in our driveway to install an Ionics filter system. When I asked him what was up, he informed me that he had orders for the install, showing me my credit application and some work order. I asked what my payments would be and he said that he had no idea and that I should call my sales guy. I immediately tried to call him but the number he had given me was (of course) out of service. I then called Ionics at the number the installer had, and the nasty lady I spoke with informed me that I would need to speak with my salesman, who would be back from vacation in a "week or two". I told her to cancel my order, and she said that she did not even have any paperwork for me. While I was on the phone with her, my installer left my front yard.

I continued calling Ionics for three weeks, and I continued getting the runaround. My salesman never called me back, even when I left him messages through Ionics, the only way I now had to contact him. Not two weeks later, I received a bill from some company called Castle Credit Corporation for $6, 999.00! It ordered me to pay monthly payments of 139.00. I immediately called them, and I was then told that they were simply my creditor and I had to take any issues to Ionics. I have been in this never-ending cycle ever since. Ionics has me by the balls and Castle Credit does not care. Both companies' reps are a nightmare to talk to, and if I am even a day late Castle Credit begins calling me. I have voice mails recorded where they have called me 23 times in a 24 hour period. I have been told that they have a secured lien on my home. One collections rep even claimed he would take me to court and TAKE MY HOME. Now we are trying to refinance, and no company will touch us because Castle credit appears to have a 2nd mortgage on our home... our home which is worth 206000 and their freaking softener is worth maybe 4000. Any idea how to get out of a UCC lien?

What a mess.

I have spoken with an attorney, and he says it may cost me what I owe to fight this. Let me tell you, I will never enter another contest nor will I ever allow someone in my home again.
