Boy oh boy! I was just trying to find a spacious place for my cat and I. I responded to an ad on Craigslist that advertised for a two bedroom apartment with hardwood floors and when I called the number (773) 568-6600, a woman with a pleasant voice answered and explained that this was a retail assistance agency that goes by the name of Kelly Enterprises. She explained that I would pay an agency fee of 99.95 and her reps would find me a place in 14 days. This occurred on October 14, 2011. I was interested and we met later that day. I gave her the money in cash and signed a contract. The contract stated that if the company could not find a place for me in 14 days, I would get my refund it stated when requesting a refund, it must be submitted in writing 24 hours before the expiration date. NO WHERE DID IT STATE THAT YOU COULD NOT FAX OR EMAIL YOUR WRITTEN REQUEST. I asked when would I receive the listings of properties, she, Dannette Kelly said, “Oh, we will start emailing you the listings tonight.” That did not happen. I got one email on October 16th. One property was an OLD LISTING THAT I RESEARCHED WEEKS BEFORE I WAS EVEN A CLIENT. I thought that was odd and was having second thoughts. The other properties were not of my interest. I got another email with places that I was not interested in. At this point, I saw no use in the services, but due to the stipulations in the contract, I had to wait until 24 hours of the expiration date or else I would not be getting my refund, because it would be considered a cancellation. I received no other assistance from the company just after those two emails. October 27, 2011. I had questions about the refund and was told by Dannette THAT JAE IS THE ONE WHO NEEDED TO ASSIST ME. I no longer heard that pleasant voice, more like one of irritation. I asked when was she available and was told by Dannette that Jae would be in the office at ten. I was given a number to reach her (773) 568 9100. I called at ten, the mailbox
was full. Called the office and spoke to Dannette again and was told that Jae is probably out with family and when we are out with family we do not answer the phone. Asked can I fax my request for refund and was told NO. A few hours later, Jae called and I explain to her that I am trying to give her my written request for my refund. She tells me she cannot meet with me today. I was baffled because I was just told that this woman was to be in the office at ten and all I needed to do was hand in a letter. I asked her what I should do. She says, “You can do same day deliver at the post office, that’s about two dollars.” I never heard of this but trusted that Jae was telling the truth. I then went to two post offices and was looked at like I had a third eye on my
forehead. They said that did not exist. I called Jae again and was told that I could submit it through Fed Ex. The amount to do this would be more than the refund itself so I declined as an intelligent person would and at this point I was suspicious of anything that this woman was going to tell me. I then decided to drop off the letter in the company’s mail box. To ensure that the letter was received, I went back to the office on October 28, 2011 WITH NO APPOINTMENT AND HANDED DANNETTE KELLY MY REQUEST FOR REFUND. She stated that Jae would get the letter On November 1st, I wanted to know the status and was told that it takes two weeks to process. I waited a few weeks later and was told my request was denied because it was received on the 28th and that the 28th day of October was the expiration date. Yet it was 14 day contract so wouldn’t the 29th be the expiration day? Oh and I never received anything from this company. So do we see a pattern here? If I had a penny for every time someone from this company said I will call you back, I would be richer than Donald Trump! The owner and I met on the 1st of December and I shared with her this matter. She put good ole reliable Jae on speakerphone
cause Jae was, you guessed it, not available to be present in the office. This is who I was told that I had to deal with concerning this matter, but you can’t track her down even if you had a GPS! Then Dannette shares goes and pulls out other clients’ files
to show me how one client did not follow through, contacted the Better Business Bureau and even showed a money order of a refund and said, “See we do give refunds.” I was a bit uncomfortable because I felt that was confidential. Anyway, I explained that the contract is vague. You, the owner said that I could not fax, but the contract does not. You the owner said that you cannot make same day appointments, but the contract does not. Things are made as we go along and not in writing!! Anyway, she states that she will think about making the contract clearer for the clients. Uh yeah ya think? I was told that she would give me a decision the next day and the never occurred. Cause again, that seems to be a ritual at this
company. Let’s tell clients we will call them at specific times and we won’t? Another week basically passed and SHE NEVER CONTACTED ME REGARDING HER “DECISION” WHICH WE ALL KNOW WAS TO KEEP THAT 99.95! I WANT MY 99.95 BACK! STEVIE WONDER COULD HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB IN FINDING ME A PLACE THEN THIS COMPANY. I have tried to be nice just to be taken for a rollercoaster ride of close to 100 dollars? I have had enough of going back and forth with this company. I have called, I have met, I have emailed and I have been given the runaround! PLEASE HELP ME STOP THIS COMPANY FROM THIS IMMORAL BEHAVIOR!
