Hello Potential Merry Maids Clients, The first time I used Merry Maids we had a good experience. I called them to clean my Grandfather's home because the house needed a very deep cleaning. They showed up on time, stayed for the expected amount of time and both cleaners were very kind and communicative. I thought they did such a good job that I suggest that my mother call them out to clean our place. Boy was that a huge mistake. I met with Jenna to get an estimate on the house and it was $170 for each cleaning. Two girls come out and are supposed to stay for two hours. They give you a breakdown on what they do and what you should expect after your home is cleaned. Well, the first time they came out they were supposed to complete a "deep cleaning." We left the house and let them do their work, but when we got home we noticed that the house was not "clean." Yes it had the "appearance," of "being clean," but it wasn't clean at all. They are supposed to take the books off of your shelves to get all of the dust but they had dusted around the books. Instead of using cleanser on our floors, they used hot water. They also used water to clean my mother's oak table and everyone knows you don't use water on oak. So I call up and speak to someone named Maricella about the cleaning and she tells me that they use environmental friendly products to clean, and I explain that I understand that but that they didn't use any products at all to clean our home. I also told her that our old housekeeper used to leave our house smelling like a "cleaned house," should smell and she said that she was taking notes and that the next time the girls came out she would tell them that we wanted a clean scent. I told her that I wanted the cleaners that she sent to my grandfather's home and she explained she could only get one of them. I told her that was fine. The second time they come is even worse than the first time. There is dust all over the place, and the house didn't have a clean scent. They didn't clean any of the windows or the blinds. They didn't wipe up the sinks or mop the floors. None of our pictures were dusted, and my father informed us that they were at the house for about an hour. My mom paid $170 for these two women to basically do nothing for one hour. Sadly my mom is locked into a contract with these people for eight cleanings, but after this kind of service, we are terminating their services. None of our requests have been taken seriously and I feel horrible that I ever suggested that they clean my parents' home. When I spoke to the manager at Merry Maids she made excuses for their work. The fact of the matter is, no one should have to tell them what to do. She wanted me to tell her what our priorities were for the home, and I was thinking to myself, "Umm, you guys are a cleaning service. You should know what you're doing." I shouldn't have to go down a list and tell them everything they need to do! In fact, they gave us a sheet of paper that explained what they did do, and what was "optional." I explained that I was very unhappy and that my parents were unhappy, and she took $90 off the next cleaning (which was just as bad!) They are supposed to come this Friday and I can only imagine what they "won't do," this time around. We had a wonderful ex housekeeper who we paid $70 for three hours and we never had to tell her what to do! She knew how to clean a home and she didn't belong to a cleaning service that guarantees their work. |
