I was a happy Thousand Trails member who decided not to renew my membership after the 1st yr. Not because of the business but because we determined we would not be able to use it enough in 2012 to make the fee worth it. On August 1st, my renewal date, I called the company and asked them to cancel. They said mail us a signed letter, I asked if there was another way, the answer NO. But they said the account would be put on hold and I would not be charged any more. (And that I should call the Billing company and let them know so they didn't charge me-I did this). Then, We started receiving bills and awful collection calls saying we needed to pay the FULL YEAR membership of $520 or they were sending us to collections. After trying and trying to explain this to the VERY RUDE customer service staff that yells over you on the phone, I finally spoke with someone that was WONDERFUL (Ms. Diaz). She listened to me and said...You can just shoot me an email with your names, Membership # and actual date of cancellation and I will get this take care of. This was done as of Sept 30th! I was so happy this would all be over. We then received a Bill in the amount of $136.85 dated 10-11-2011. I called the company and explained AGAIN we had canceled, the rep at this point said, I will look into it for you. I received NO calls or info until Ms. Hunnings called on 11-3-11 and started to tell me that I owed this amount for the time between Aug 1st and the date they received the Email. When I tried to start explaining the situation to her she yelled "I'm Not Finished" then told me she was going to Pull our credit reports (which IS illegal, as I gave NO consent) She can report this BUT NOT pull a report! As she was still yelling at me I hung up. My husband called her back, she yelled at him too. He then asked for the Supervisors name and number and we were given Ms. Johnson's name. He left a detailed message with her as of 9am at 11:15am we received a call back only to find she was just as bad if not worse than Ms. Hunnings at customer service. Completely unwilling to even listen to our side. I just want this to go away with no more money out of my pocket. AND this experience has made a once happy customer that would have become a member again in the future never want to do business with them. I will never refer anyone either, how could I wish this on friends!
