TopGun Paintball Terrible paint, poor customer service Jackson, New Jersey
1st of Nov, 2011 by User252171
I've played Topgun Paintball in Jackson NJ a few times, mostly because it's so close. This past weekend, I was there, and the staff were terrible. First of all, as others have pointed out, it's way too expensive for what you get. $40 for all day play, but no discount for people who have their own equipment? Outrageous. Part of that $40 that rental players pay goes towards cleaning, maintaining, and the original buying of that equipment. That's fine and it makes sense. But EVERY other field in NJ cuts the price significantly for BYO...not these guys though. As if the walk-on charge wasn't ridiculous enough, they rape you for $80 for a case of mediocre paint. Can't use any other brand....ever. To make matters worse, the paint they pushed on me this past weekend was in the worse condition I've ever seen. A vast majority of the balls had dimples and large flat surfaces on them. And as you can imagine, it just flew all over the place once it left the barrel. When I pointed out how bad it was to the staff in the 'pro'-shop, they couldn't care less. I got such snarky responses such as, "what do you want us to do, check every single ball for you?". No, I expect a certain level of quality of the product you're forcing me to buy! They weren't concerned with the inferiority of the paint at all! They wouldn't even discount it, although the paint was obviously very old or stored wrong. They tried that, "well this is premium level paint" line too. First of all, it's not, it's mid-level at best. Secondly, it doesn't matter what quality the paint WAS when it left the factory, if it's dented to hell by the time you use it, it's basically worthless. If they were running low on good stock, and were caught off guard, I could have understood. If they acknowledged and apologized about the quality, promised to provide better products in the future, and gave me a deal on the paint they had, I'd still be a loyal customer. (Because stuff happens, we all know that!) But if you're going to have such a condescending and disrespectful attitude towards players, even ones who were coming there for some time and bought equipment there, I just can't recommend anyone going to Topgun Paintball in Jackson NJ. There are far too many fields in NJ with better paint and friendlier staff, to have to put up with the experience of this weekend.
