I tried to make a $60 purchase to buy some knock-off Oakleys. The site re-rerouted me to what looked very similar to a PayPal site, which first disallowed my MasterCard payment, saying the credit card HAD to be a Visa. I reworked the order with a Visa card that I have through Amazon.com & Chase. That credit card company called me in just a few minutes about a fraud alert. Issues: 1) the charge had been for MORE than the flat $60 I'd charged, 2) was being routed through a website called www.GZBabyToysGoods.net, and 3) was originating in China. My Chase/Amazon Visa customer service recommended I cancel the transaction due to the three red flags listed above. Tried doing this via the original website, but there's nowhere in my account to do anything other than view the pending charges. I sent an email form to the company, but have not heard back. The other hinkey thing about all this is that usually, companies only charge the credit card when the order has been shipped, but this company hit the credit card immediately. The credit card customer service rep also pointed out that any online company that doesn't have a way to cancel an order is probably suspect. There's not one thing about all this that doesn't smell bad. I guess that's what I get for trying to get "bargain" sunglasses.
