Undocumented damage

Hi,
I like the above have received a letter from the damage recover unit at Alamo about damages that they expect me to be liable for. Rented this vehicle in Denver; arrived at the rental counter at about 12:30am and was informed they did not have the vehicle I reserved and to just go pick another one. No inspection was made by either the rental agent or the attendant at the gate. We returned the car and again no mention of any damage, was given our receipt and we went on to catch our flight. I received on letter asking for insurance information due to damage on the vehicle. Called the damage recover unit and explained that I was not aware of any damage. She stated it was from hail; the night we flew in, Denver had a hailstorm that damaged Frontier airline planes. I mentioned that perhaps this is what the so called damage was from. She stated she would look into it and call us back. No phone call but received another letter in the mail. this time with a detailed estimate for repairs. I feel that I am not liable for this and will contact the BBB, American Express and possibly my lawyer.
