Allen & Sons Allen & Sons Appliance Repair scam Artists Extrodinaire Ventura, California
4th of Oct, 2011 by User139860
WHAT THEY SAY: They claim they are a family owned business. So is La Cosa Nostra.
They claim that they warranty their service. They do not honor their warranties.
They claim they have certified technicians and repair people. They don't. THE FACTS: They charge above retail cost for their parts.
They charge $150.00 per service call which is outrageous and this does not apply to any repairs that they do.
They lie and they cheat.
They do not honor their warranties. OUR EXPERIENCE: After remodeling our home we used Allen & Sons to repair 2 of our high end appliances: a refrigerator and range. It took them 3 tries to fix the refrigerator. They tried 5 times to fix the range and never did fix it. We ended up paying them $980.00 for these repairs. When they tried to fixed the range they installed the wrong components which kept blowing out the electronic control unit for this appliance. They then tried to charge to charge us an ADDITIONAL $580.00 dollars. We refused to pay this so they took us to Small Claims Court. They lost their case. THEIR "scam" GAME: a. Their technicians come out to your home and claim to be able to fix your appliance. Their technicians are con-artists who put on academy award winning performances regarding their abilities to fix anything. None of their technicians are certified to repair any of the major brand name appliances. Just ask them for their training certifications when they come out to your home.
b. They advertise offices near our home in the yellow pages. We went out to this office and it turned our to be a vacant lot which NEVER had any buildings on it.
c. We talked to other people who have used Allen & Sons for appliance repair. In one instance, a Polish lady told us that she used them. Since many of the Allen & Sons technicians are eastern European immigrants, this lady overheard one technician call the repair office for assistance. This particular technician started speaking Polish to someone back at the repair office. This discussion DID NOT address any of the appliance repair problems, but it addressed strategies to get MORE MONEY out of the customer. This technician did not know that this lady was fluent in the Polish language.
d. They will never ever fix your appliance on the first visit. They will never do a complete diagnosis on what is wrong with your appliance. They will continue to offer you 'excuses' on why you need to have them come out for more visits so that they can "FIND MORE THINGS WRONG" with your appliances. Each time they visit your home, they will never ever fix your appliance completely and they will keep prodding you with additional "excuses" and quotes on why you should spend more money to fix an appliance. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? Avoid these people like the plague unless you like to invite career criminals and pathological liars into your home.
