BIRDWALK FARM CROSSVILLE
BIRDWALK FARM CROSSVILLE TN DISHONEST DOG BREEDER!! ALERT!!! CROSSVILLE, Tennessee
27th of Jan, 2011 by
I should have known better! I purchased a Labradoodle from this place. They were so nice on the phone and their website looked good - so I let them "deliver" my puppy, since it was 100 miles away and they "just happened" to be coming my way, so I didn't get the pleasure of seeing their facility. This puppy was 4 months old when I bought her, which should have thrown up a red flag, but they convinced me the reason they still had her was that they were planning to keep her, but had changed their minds. She was a beautiful puppy, but nasty and her hair matted when I met them. She was very shy and timid, very unfriendly - which I was told was natural for the breed to be this way when in a strange place. I paid $500 for the dog. They "forgot" to bring her vet papers, so I had no idea what shots she had - now I'v sure she hadn't had any! I took her to my vet the next day and they started over with shots as if she had never had any. They also found an umbilical hernia, that had to be repaired, although I had been told that she had been to the vet and checked out perfectly. I had the hernia repaired and sent Ms. Lucille an e-mail, telling her I felt like they should pay for the surgery or at least a portion of it. she agreed that they would send me a check. Before I bought the puppy, I discussed with them that I have 7 granchildren and I needed a "kid friendly" dog - this dog was not friendly with anyone...period. She growled, bit one man and snapped at the grandchildren. She is now 16 months old and last week, I surrendered her to the Humane Society - She definitely has mental issues. I had her to two dog trainers and a pet psycho-therapist. I have not been able to reach Ms. Lucille since the day she said she would send the money for the surgery - won't return calls or answer e-mails. After having this dog for 12 months - I still could not catch her without hemming her into a corner, she never allowed me to pet her!! I recommend that anyone wanting a dog - go some other direction!!!!!!!!!

I purchased a cockapoo from Lucille Baily in Crossville Tenn in 2010. The puppy was 6.5 to 7 weeks old at the time. We drove several hours for a puppy . We found their "farm" to be filthy and was shocked at how many dogs they had on site-- at least 60-100 dogs! Our puppy had worms, fleas and a fungal infection two days after we picked him up--our vet bill was $400. He is a smart dog and obviously very cute but growls and bites as he is very territorial with socks, etc. He has bitten my son 3 or 4 times. He has Pica(eats everything in sight) He has a dominate personality and has a major sense of entitlement. My son adores this dog but I do not feel that the dog treats my son very well. Training did not help very much, as it must be nature over nurture. We will continue to care for this dog and hopefully he will get better with age. I have learned my lesson and will never purchase a dog from a greedy breeder. Support your Local Humane Society. Note: It was our original intention to adopt a pet from our local humane society or rescue but searched for at least 3 months and became frustrated after every dog that we were interested in had adoptions already pending and it never worked out. My advice is to hold out and wait until an adoption works out at a rescue or local Humane Society--it will be worth the wait!

We purchased our labradoodle nine years ago from Birdwalk Farm. Although the facility was dirty, and the dogs were kept, along with many other species of animals, in very confined spaces, we have had only wonderful success with our dog. He did not have any illnesses and his temperament is beyond loving and gentle. He loves everyone and everything and you couldn't make him bite if you tried. He is also incredibly intelligent and thinks he is human. I guess it depends on the breeding parents of the dogs, as well as their early environmental exposure.

We bought our dog from Birdwalk Farm back in 2003. I honestly had nothing but good experiences with Lucille. She called when she said she would and responded to my emails quickly. Our puppy arrived via air and even had toys with him so that he would have a familiar scent close by. We just lost him a month ago. He had the sweetest disposition you could imagine. He NEVER (even as a puppy) attempted to bite. He, like most puppies, wanted to jump up on people when they came in but we simply gave him a toy to play with everytime someone came to the door. It very quickly became a habit that he would just grab an object (shoe, boot, toy, sock) everytime we allowed someone in out home. I'm really surprised to read about all of the bad experiences. We bought Bosley sight unseen and so I don't know anything about the farm environment. All I do know is that we had a wonderful dog whom we miss terribly.
