Bob Williams came to my house to give a painting quote for the company I contacted, Painting Plus. When I mentioned refinishing the floors, he asked if he could uote that as well, stating he could give me the best price in town using a reputable crew he had used before. My ground floor is appx. 1,400 square feet. Both the proposal and invoice stated 3,422 square feet of flooring. The finished floor had to be sanded TWICE and is still wavy because of the sanding job. There are saw cuts in every stair riser. Polyurethane “puddled†at the base of many of the door frames, and stain covers bottom of most of the door frames. JOB DATES: ~Early September -- Bob arrived on behalf of Painting Plus, and after reviewing my painting needs offered to give an estimate on refinishing hardwood floors (said he works for many different companies; I had mentioned we were doing floors after the painting) He quoted $1.50 sq. ft., said he could beat any competitor’s price ~September 11th -- date of floor refinishing proposal, shows 3,422 square feet of flooring when I actually have a little less than 1,500 square feet (I know this because I had other estimates done afterward) ~September 15th -- I mailed signed floors proposal to Bob 3 weeks pass ~October 3rd -- Subcontractors began, but completely ruined the floors. They either applied stain and poly combined into one product, or applied them within an hour of each other, not sure which). I voiced strong objections. We called the info line for MinWax and were told the job could not have been done correctly in the 7 hours the crew had been there. ~October 5th -- Floors re-sanded and re-stained. ~October 8th -- Bob's subcontractor brought a child onto the job with him. Final floor result is poor. I had to hire painters to paint the trim that was ruined by stain; same painters repaired the saw cuts in the stair risers for me. Had to have the central vacuum repaired where Bob's crew disconnected it and then let floor shavings fall into the system's duct work. Whole process from initial contact to completion took 5-6 weeks. I do not recommend you use this person for any home repairs. |
