Castle Rock Security Scam Artist, Unethical, Thieves Arlington Heights, Illinois
3rd of Apr, 2011 by User317433
This is a letter I wrote to Castle Rock Security regarding their unethical, thieving ways: Effective immediately, I am cancelling my service with your company for the home security system. I have been a customer for well over five years and have found the equipment faulty and the service inadequate. I cannot count how many times my security system has been inoperable.
Approximately, less than two years ago I was basically forced to upgrade the equipment for a fee of $199. Thereafter, I have had more problems with the service being down than working. Also, your company attempted to charge me a labor charge of $125 to put a replacement censor on my door. All that was required was to peel off the tape and stick it on the door. That is absolutely ridiculous. I no longer choose to do business with your company. Please, cancel my service TODAY! (March 15, 2011). I repeat, DO NOT re-enroll me with your services.
This letter provides you with more than adequate time to discontinue my services before the ?so-called re-enrollment date of June 16, 2011. Please note that you should practice informing your customers thirty (30) days or more of their ?so-called re-enrollment date. Your automatic re-enrollment without notice is not only unfair to loyal consumers but also unethical. Sincerely Disappointed,

Castle Rock Security have ripped me off of $2, 688 dollars and my bank will get it all back. I have never heard of Castle Rock or any of the names before except Firstline Security, who knocked on my door consistently to get me to sign up. This was in 2007. The contract stated that the first six monthes were free and then 44 dollars after, only if you decided to keep the system after 6 months. There was an option to cancel after the six months were up. I called to cancel. They told me it needed to be in writing, so I wrote a letter. They said they never got the letter. I called my bank and had them stop the automatic withdrawls. It stopped, but about three months later another company started withsdrawing money out of my account. Sad to say that I'm not one to check over my statements thoroughly if at all, but now that I have recently signed up to view my statements online, I was suprised to see that I had been charged $48.48 three months after I had cancelled and saw no activity. I never once used the alarm system; never. I didn't seem to have a need for it at that time or even now due to how the twin homes are set up in the neighborhood and the location of mine which is viewed from all angles. They took money from 2008 to 2011( now). I put a stop payment of the withdrawl. My question is how were they able to do that when I never signed up again after I had cancelled? Wow! They are definetly professionals at their craft...stealing from innocent people. Starting now 7/7/11. I will check my statements weekly. There were and still is so many other things that money could have been going to like my student loans.
