Central Arizona Shelter Services mistreatment of personal belongings, unfair treatment Phoenix, Arizona

Hi, my name is Kary Pace. That is my real name. This is a preliminary report on how I am being treated at Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS). I had recently become homeless again in Arizona as a result of the Republican controlled government here who had refused to accept the Federal Money to continue my Extended Benefits thru this summer. This in itself will be addressed in a separate report. However, last night I entered the CASS overflow shelter for the 3rd night in a row after losing my room which I could not afford after being denied the Extended Benefits offered by the Federal Government. The gist of this is that I was harassed continously by another homeless person when I entered the shelter. He was egging me on for some kind of confrontation. I attempted to do everything to his liking including putting my smelly shoes under my mat. However, this kept on until one of the shelter workers insist that I not sit sideways on my mat on the floor. This meant I must sit facing my harassing fellow homeless person in the next mat. The situation continued until I had enough of it and told the other homeless person who was bothering me to shut up and I yelled it very loudly. I told him "Don't ever talk to me again." I began walking out because I had enough of this nonsense after 117 degree heat and not having resources to get new shoes and so forth which the harasser apparently though I should have been able to get. The short of it is that CASS took the side of the harasser and I wound up outside in the worst Dust Storm that many Arizona's have seen in years. I slept on a bus stop because there is no other choice. Today, my bus pass runs out and I'll truly be "on the street". I attempted to find help at Phoenix Rescue Mission and was turned away from there as well. (More on them in a separate complaint.) My main desire is to let the world know that facts. If I wind up dead because of this heat and the feeling of being abandoned, then I'd like to have at least gotten a word in. By the way, a fellow saw me the next day who had overhead the whole thing and he said, "You had every right to get upset and they took his side." Wow, I'm truly sorry to hear this. I too am having a hardship, through, no fault of my own, but I'm a little luckier. I have a wonderful home, and I was able to go to school (through scholships) I just finished in Medical, Billing/Coding. But since AZ has cut off Extended Benefits, I have no money to pay for my State Certification ( $371.00) I feel like all my hard work is for nothing, I can't get a job without it, ..it's just one of those jobs. I'm also being harrased by the state for the $25 dollars extra, we recieved on Unemployment, , that the state now wants back. I now owe the IRS $68.00 wich isn't really alot, but I have NO income. Also, they are Auditing me for 2005, and they say I owe them $1000, what the heck "H&R block do my taxes
