Directv Punitive Charges Greenwood Village, Colorado

We have tolerated poor customer service, limited channel selections and random price increases and finally made a decision to cancel our Directv satellite service after paying the final bill in full and later received a final statement from Directv that statesâ€ No payment dueâ€ A week later we received a collection notice and harassing phone calls advising of our indebtedness to Directv in the amount of $159.37 for â€œService Amountâ€. We were customers with Directv for 5 years and never were late on our monthly payments for services rendered. We placed them on notice by letter that this was nothing more than a punitive charge and an extortion attempt and we will continue to dispute this outrages â€œService Amountâ€ charge. We feel compassion for people who have circumstances beyond their control such as job loss or health issues and are forced to deal with companies that use extortion and blackmail. (ie: numerous harassing phone calls, collection letters or threatening to place derogatory information on their credit reports unless payment is received). A class action suit seems warranted for companies like Directv.
