Eagle One Logistics IC Solutions Inc. Lied to me about compensation Grapevine, Texas
6th of Oct, 2011 by User377886
This company advertises on Craigslist and in that advertising it stated that for the first three weeks they would pay any IC drivers 100 dollars fuel allowance. I called them and set up an interview and took the ad with me. I was interviewed by a guy named Steve and Michelle Smith who was listed as regional Texas director. They both told me they knew nothing about any gas allowance. When I showed them the advertisement, Michelle said they would have to pay me that if it were in the advertising. They seemed like they were in a big hurry because they said they needed drivers asap. I was told I would be getting around 70 packages and once in a while a furniture item from Office Max and the rate for each delivery would be per box at $1.85 per package up to 70 pounds and anything over 70 pounds would be 10 dollars. They tossed a pile of papers in front of me and told me I needed to do some "paperwork". There was about 30-40 pages of stuff mostly repetitive and I don't recall seeing anything out of the ordinary like a start up fee or anything like that, but, I'm not saying there wasn't. It's possible because they never gave me any copies. Most courier companies I have worked for have given me an hourly rate and I took my expenses out of that, so, this was something different, but, I thought I was dealing with honest people. Turns out I wasn't. They called me up the next day and told me to show up at 6:30am to help them sort packages. I never realized that it would take over 2 hours of my time to help everyone sort out all the deliveries for the day which I received nothing for doing. The first day, I only had about 20 packages and Michelle told me that she would pay me for my time since I didn't have very many stops. I finished my deliveries about 3pm and was told to go home for the day(which was a Friday). On Monday, I showed up at 6:30 and helped sort and I noticed there was a lot of huge furniture, several weighing 200 pounds. Because of all the heavy furniture, I was only able to get about 30 packages in my van. I figured the boxes over 70 pounds would make up for the low box count because they (I figured) would pay me 10 dollars for each overweight box. I found out the next day that the 10 dollars was only for each stop and not for each box. Since I had three huge boxes totaling 598 pounds at one stop, I was only paid 10 bucks for dragging this huge stuff up stairs. If you ad the 30 other boxes, It actually cost me about as much in gas to deliver the stuff as I received for doing it. Needless to say, I was beginning to see that this was a scam and not only that, I was tearing up my van hauling all this heavy stuff around (which should have gone in a box truck). The third day was the kicker. There were even more huge boxes and very few packages. This was becoming a nightmare to deliver all this huge heavy stuff for ten bucks a stop. After the third day, I had had about enough as it was costing me more money to deliver the stuff than I was making. I quit on the fourth morning thinking I would receive some money for the three days of delivering over 130 boxes or so. I waited three weeks and no check. Finally, I called and they told me Michelle Smith was no longer with the company (surprise surprise) and that whatever she promised me was null and void, and that furthermore there was a 200 dollar start up fee and if I didn't make more than that, they didn't owe me anything at all. I threatened to sue them and then they backed off and told me I would receive a call later that day when they sorted everything out. I actually did receive a call from Aaron (who was apparently the shipping manager) and he told me that they had a check for me, but, didn't know my mailing address. (Thats funny because it was all over the mound of paperwork I signed). He tried to appease me and told me that the check was for 85 dollars, which would have at least paid for my gas, so, I left it at that. I just received a check today and it was for 8 dollars and 73 cents. Nothing on the check stub made any sense. They deducted money for advertising, for administration fees, for set-up fees, for CRGO DFR (whatever that is), for something called PALM, etc. etc. This is outrageous and I would find it humorous if they weren't doing the same thing to other IC's who work for them. I found out that they are using a temp agency and hiring drivers through the temp agency who have out of state licenses (a big no no when you deliver commercially), and they were paying them by the hour and not by the package. So, all IC's who make the mistake of working for these scam artists are going to lose their a**es. There are a lot of courier companies who try to get people to use their own vehicles and tell them that they can make 700 to 1000 dollars a week blah, blah, blah. And nearly all of them do the same thing to people....rip them off! Eagle One logistics aka IC solutions are not fair with people who drive independently with them. The least they can do is pay people for their time and fuel and do what they promise. Eagle One, like many other courier companies just uses people for their financial gain and that's why they are always running the same ad for months. They just keep doing the same scam over and over. Beware of Eagle one and IC solutions if you value your time and money. Don't work for them and tell other's about them if they scam you. They know they can't be sued in small claims court for less than 500 dollars and that's why they do this.
