FRAUD: Almost purchased a make believe car |
8th of Feb, 2012 by clarke79 |
Almost purchased a car. Scammer replies to ad on market website, in this case a car sales website (Gumtree.com.au). Goods are supposedly in storage and will be shipped via a shipping company (Elite Shipping Ltd) upon purchase payment. Money is supposedly held by a third party trust account during a trial period. For instance, pending the completion of a purchase, the payment for the goods will be held in a trust account.
"Hi xxxx,
the car is still available. it's in great mechanical and cosmetic condition, has been properly maintained and always garage kept, never been involved in accidents. it comes with a roadworthy certificate (RWC) and registration and the price I'm selling it for is $5,200 which includes all charges.
I used to live in Kardinya, Perth but I'm currently working in the UK (London) and I'm going to move here permanently within the next few months so the car needs a new home. I left it with a shipping company called Elite Shipping Ltd. before leaving to England, they will sell it on my behalf, all original documents are along with the car in their possession. they will supervise the transaction from start to finish, including payment, shipping with a 5-day return policy, ownership transfer service, or (if needed) returns and refunding.
if you want to buy it, let me know and I will explain you the entire purchase process.
Thanks,
xxxx

the car is currently being stored in Albany at Elite Shipping warehouse, all original documents including log books with full service history are along with the car in their possession. their sale policy is to deliver the vehicles with a 5-day inspection period right after the purchase amount was deposited in their trust account, for inspection and to pick it up instead of having it delivered you would have to schedule an appointment, and it could take up to 3 weeks until you have it set which is a timeframe that I'm not comfortable with.
I'm paying some fees each passing day and I would rather take advantage of their sale policy, so if you want to buy it let me explain you how the purchase process will be handled...
to start the official transaction I need your full name to be on the paperwork, your complete delivery address and contact number, I forward your information and they will notify you with all the instructions.
they will assign one of their agents to handle payment process, you have to deposit the purchase amount in their trust account and send them confirmation after payment was made. when your payment is confirmed they start the shipping process and the car will arrive to your place in about 48 hours after your payment reaches their bank account. you'll have a 5-day return policy (inspection period), so you can test drive (500 kms range) and inspect the car before they transfer me the money. if you decide to keep it, they have the Power of Attorney so they will transfer the ownership into your name and the money in my account, if the car is not as expected, they handle returns and you'll have a complete refund, anyway I doubt it will be the case for returns because I'm sure you'll love the car from the beginning so we can have a done deal within the next few days.
if you want to move forward, I will be waiting your email so we can get the process started.
Thanks,
xxxx

Hi xxxx
I'm having some issues with my international phone calls and I'm not reachable right now so it's useless to provide my mobile number and I don't have a land line yet......
