Sold sick bird died cost us hundreds
25th of Jan, 2012 by stopanimalabusepetstore
Found out that his company has a history of animal neglect, and a horrible attitude about the welfare of there animals. When we contacted this company over the bird we bought that was sick they had us come in and buy more products to supposely help it. We had to take the bird to the vets a couple days later as it was not getting better, that night we lost our sweet little guy.

We took the bird in his little box back to the pet store and they were rude and accused us of killing it. We did everything they suggested and spend hundreds of dollars in the store. To have them blame us, I can't remember the guys names but he had dark hair upper 40's to mid 50's. He was scary had a real temper on him, someone that clearly needs anger management classes. I guess becasue we questioned him on where he was getting the animals and was the store supporting mills pissed him off but we have now found out that it's true. I guess we hit it right on the head and but his scare threatening attitude only made us investigate this store. I'm glad as we found out that this store was a main supplier of mill dogs and cats and that is why they got shut down from selling them. To bad they havent' shut down the the sales of other animals yet.

I would never shop at this store again, BUYERS DON'T be fooled like we were. We found out that they don't sell cats or dogs anymore because they were fined for animal abuse and not allowed to keep selling puppies and kittens anymore. We were told that they were kept in the small glass and metal cages all day and night never let out to run, they slept on the cold hard ground that was covered in urine and poop. This store made thousands of dollars by cutting corners and selling poor quality sick animals to people like us. SAVE YOUR MONEY DON'T SUPPORT PET STORE THAT SELL MILL ANIMALS FOR THEM TO PROFIT OFF OF.

Dear reader,

We apologize for this post. There is simply nothing true about it, rather this is an angry ex-employee that was let go for theft. If you would like to speak with an owner at Homes Alive please call us toll free at 1-800-839-7232 or email us at [email protected], or view our profile on the Better Business Bureau.

Kind Regards,

NOT surprised another animal from this store had mites.

We bought a snake from this company that had mites and was sick. Wouldn't eat and died, to accuse anybody other than themselves is only an attempt to cover up the truth. I spend over $1000 on the snake and set up and feel totally ripped off. They laughed at me when I brought up my concerns that he wouldn't eat. There comments were it was just mating season, they stop eating and he would be fine.

It is clear to me that this store sells sick animals now, and rips people off! DON'T become a victim like me, and probably so many others.

OMG I wish we knew, we just bought a rabbit from Homes Alive Pet Centre that is sick!! Runny nose, diarhea. We have been waiting for them to return our call and they haven't. The man that we spoke to reassured us that they bunny would be fine that it was just from the stress from the move. We are worried now as his eyes and nose are still runny, and it appears he has a raspy sound when he breaths.

I thought I would clarify my posting, I didn't know that my unkles snake had died from HAPS. We just bought our bunny last week from the store and I'm freaked out now that he is going to die to. I'm leaving tomorrow back to Calgary and still have no answers to why he is sick. Thanks unkle Jo for showing me this site and sharing what they did to you. I wish I knew before I bought our bunny that day.

Personally, I think you must have dealt with some other pet store, because the homes alive that I, and the rest of this city knows, is a reputable place. They sell healthy animals that are ready to go to a good home. I give this store 2 GIANT THUMBS UP. Check out the store, and you won't be disapointed by their friendly attitudes and their immense collection of knowledge.

Just got the run around from this store, no one seemed to know what they were talking about. An I just saw multiple birds there scratching and missing feathers. I waited 15 min for help, VERY POOR service.

I supply my African Soft fur rats to Homes Alive and I didn't do it for the money and i don't run a rat mill. I had an excess of animals that i take great care of. They asked EVERY question they could think of to ensure the health of the animals they bought from me. I am positive they have taken great care of them, too. I've bought several animals there including a very picky Ball Python that eats regularly and has ZERO mites. The buyer beware when it comes to buying ANY animal from ANY source but so far, I have seen nothing to suggest neglect or improper health of my animals from Homes Alive

I personally have had nothing but wonderful experiences at homesalive, I've walked in there and have been helped by many employes. If it was busy I simply went up to someone asked asked if they could give me a hand and they were more then willing to help me. I have a dog just to clarify. They also always have a ton of information, and if they don't know the answer or wish to get a second opinion they ask a fellow employee.

As far as my research goes they supported local breeders with animals, who knows maybe sales didn't meet the cost to care for them, there for good for them for not caring certain pets. I love shopping at homes alive. If you have a concern with the well being and purchasing of animals check out the stories behind petland and pet smart. And maybe make a big deal about them because they're the ones putting a bad name on pet stores.
