Infosec Institute
Infosec Institute Intense School Falsely advertised Training Class. Insufficient training. Elmwood Park, Illinois
7th of Aug, 2011 by User317363
I signed up for a training class that was falsely advertised as being advanced. Most of the activities that were indicated on the site did not actually happen. As an example, the training was advertised/sold with the understanding that the class would be from 8:30 AM up to 10:30 PM. The first day we were done by 4:30 PM and the second day by 3:30 PM. The class materials were illegible and had to be reprinted. They were not available until the 3rd day of training. The instructor of the class himself indicated that this company is a scam and also confirmed this as he himself did not have the certification he was training some in the room for. He also had not seen the training material until the Friday before the Monday of training! They flew in a second instructor on day 4, which then tried to cram 5 days of training into 2. The training as purchased was to include meals. Dinner as provided on night 2 was a baked potato!! One of the most prohibitive aspects of the training, other than the illegible text books and unqualified/unmotivated teacher, involved the labs. Labs in a class like this are extremely important because in order to obtain the information, a student needs to train on it in real time. The labs that we performed required more time to get working than we could spend learning in them. Scripts, programs, and instructions were all wrong. The hardware provided to perform the labs did not meet the software's minimum requirements. The software used in the labs was NOT licensed with Microsoft (I have the images that were used as proof of all of the above if needed). The lab material did not coincide with the lectured material at all. The website for the class can be found at (http://www.infosecinstitute.com/courses /advanced_ethical_hacking_training.html). In my line of work/career, these types of classes are common to help me advance my skills, and be able to assist my clients with better securing their computing environments. My linked in page is at (http://www.linkedin.com/in/jscottkennedy) where you will see that I am heavily certified in this field. I have filed with Discover Card as well as I had paid for the class with them. I have also complained directly with the business Infosec Institute. I have several others that are willing to complete a complaint, and I already have copies of emails sent directly to Infosec Institute with specifics on the failure to deliver the class as advertised, including admittance on their end. There was an attempt to correct the failures of the class, but it was too late and too little. Due to the overwhelming evidence that this operation is a scam, I have decided to pursue this compliant and have requested for a refund plus associated travel costs. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if I can provide additional information.

I was thinking about enrolling . Can you give me more feedback... was the material at least somewhat useful?
