Lawrence Raymond Dan Dobson, Debbie McFarlene bank check scam cashiers check fraud Toronto, Ontario

Had Lawrence Raymond, who claimed to be a Doctor from the UK contact us, wanting to do a LARGE amount of business with our company, to the tune of $100,000. Asked about the largest possible order, which was bizarre, but he claimed to have a lot of money. When it got down to writing the check and doing the transaction, he put his "financial advisor" Dan Dobson on the case. Dan Dobson claimed to work for a company named Premiums Management, and gave a Toronto, ON address. I spoke with him on the phone, and he clearly had a Nigerian accent (So Did Lawrence Raymond. I googled Nigerian Check Scams, and I thought this COULD be the case, but in the case it wasn't, it was going to be a wonderful order for the company. After making arrangements with Mr. Dobson, a Cashiers Check arrived about 6 days later. The check looked legit. So much so, that when we took it to the bank, they looked over it with a fine tooth comb and said, yes, it looks good. It originated from a bank in Texas, which again, I thought was bizarre, since this was a guy from the UK, using a "financier" from Canada. 3 days later, it came back as a fraudulent check, and as a result of it, our deposits are being held a longer amount of time, as a kind of "probation" thing. I honestly don't know what the purpose of sending this bad check was. We informed the duo that the product would not be shipped out until the check cleared. Since the check didn't clear, we haven't heard a peep out of the Nigerian scammers. Avoid ANYONE claiming to be a Dr. Lawrence Raymond or a Lawrence Raymond Larson wanting to do business with you. From what I could gather from a Google search, this guy is notorious for writing bad checks. Dan Dobson as well.
