[email protected] [email protected] Craigslist scam using cashiers checks for items, took my name, address and phone #. She uses many names

I listed an item on Craigslist for sale. I was contacted via email by a Mrs. Elizabeth Benson. Claimed she was out of the country working on contract and would like to purchase item immediately. She asked for my name, address and phone # for purposes of sending me via courier a cashiers check. She also said she would have movers come and pick up the item once I received my money. She said she would contact me with a tracking # and that the check will be in my hands 2 to 3 business days. She also told me to remove my posting from Craigslist.

I have emailed her twice now letting her know that it's been a week and no check. I received only one reply saying it's coming and that she hopes that I am honest because she has the fear of God in her.

My instinct told me that something was not right about this person and I never had any intention of removing the item I posted for sale and told her I would not.

I have yet to hear back from her. I did some research on her email address and it came up on this website as a possible scam artist using cashiers checks.

I wrote Mrs. Elizabeth Benson back tonight letting her know that still no check, and good luck with the fraud act-and informed her I filed a complaint online.

Thank you for posting this b/c I was contacted by this person / email address today. I thought the email seemed strange so my husband looked up the email and came across this posting (& others). Thankful that people like you post info regarding scams so that people like me don't get scammed!

This was what I got as an email:

Thank you for getting back to me. Am okay with the price and
condition, though I'll be using the services of a mover who will come
for the pick up on my behalf because I'm currently away for a
contracting Job but I will send a Certified check through my Bank to
cover the cost. The check will be delivered to you next day air
service by a reliable courier company. Please do provide me with your
full mailing address, and also indicate your final price, the Name
that should be on check and finally a cell phone #. I will also advise
you to discard any other buyer, Kindly delete the posting because am
serious in buying it, when the Funds Clears then pick-up arrangement
follows. I will want your honesty on this because am a God fearing
person. waiting to read from you soon.
