Contract that I have made with company was 1500 lbs as $1275.
When moving company first arrived on 28 June 2011, I've scheduled to be picked up between 3 pm ~ 5 pm.
I've received a call that evening and they ended up arriving at 11 pm. The guys who looked at my items told me that it will be way over 2000 lbs. I've already had the other companies come by to check how many lbs and it wasn't close to 1500 lbs. I've told him that I wouldn't take anything if it goes over 1500 lbs due to budget, he said he'll make a deal.
Before he offered the deal, I've asked him if I could see in person how much everything will weight.
He explain to me that he has to take it far and measure there and bring it back if I wanted to know.
Explaining that him being the expert, he offered with $1600 he will include packing for free.
Before even making decisions, the moving guys were alrady loading my items.
I felt like I was in the spot where I had no choice.
It was really late in the evening and being the only person there as a woman, I had to make the decisions quick.
I try to read everything on the new contract but he was rushing me to fill it out.
I looked at the total and it was $1700 not $1600.
When I asked him, he said he never mensioned $1600.
I had no choice since time was running out so I've agreed to just pay $1700. I'm currently out of state so I gave my permission for my sister to pick up the item.
I have received a call on 4th of July from driver name RONI.
I told him to give a call to my sister since she's the person who will be recieving my items.
Couple minutes later, my sister called me back saying RONI was screaming and yelling saying that he only recives cash.
I called him back and asked him if personal check or any other options are available.
He than started yelling on the phone complaining that I call too many times and that "no cash than I'll not deliver".
That sounded like a threat!!! I've agreed to have the cash available and he explained that he will arrive on 6 July 2011 in the afternoon. My sister received my items yesterday (6 July 2011 approximately @ 10 pm).
Again, time management was horrible. Upon arrival, Roni and two other guys states "I don't know which one is yours. Everything is green stickered so it has been mixed with other people's house hold items."
Instead of appologizing, he was very frustrated and was very rude. He was asking which items belong to me.
When my sister pointed out for example, "that's not her microwave" he than said "shit" and tossing with one hand ... throwing into the truck.
When my sister and brother in law looked inside the truck, there were broken glasses everywhere and the movers were just stepping on top of other items. The other two guys explained that they are only temporary and they are not familiar with this company.
Roni was continiously yelling, cursing, and being very rude. Some of my items were covered with mercury spill which I have no idea where that is from. My temperpedic bed mettress was fold it in half. I mean how is that possible? mirror is broken so bad that my sister just had to toss it in the trashcan since there were too many broken glasses on the floor.
I have 5 years old nephew and we were all worried that he might step on the broken glasses. my pillows and blankets are also covered with mercury so it's in the dumster. When those guys came to pick up my items and told me that they will pack, they had 3 wardrobe boxes and placed everything inside while i was signing the paper so I have no idea what is in those boxes. Be honest, I have no idea what is missing and how many items are broken.
I'm not going to be in Austin till maybe in 2 to 3 months. When I asked Roni to state his last name, he cursed and said "you call company and say i'm Roni, they will know", than threw my sister's phone at her and just walked out. This has been the worst experience of my life and I don't know what I need to do.
This person name Roni needs to be fired and should never work in the customer service areas. I am very confused if it was just the problem with the driver or the company itself. Doroteya the representative were very polite and trusting.
So I had no idea this could actually happen to me. I am considering to take it further regarding this experience and I feel bad for the other people that has chosen this company for the move. I'm really not sure what I need to do.
