Reppert Appliance sold us appliances that did not work Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania |

My aunt and cousin picked out appliances from this store before we'd moved to Pennsylvania--looked great, woman who worked in the store was very helpful and friendly and took our payment even from another state with no issues. We were able to get what looked like four very nice appliances. We kept in mind that these were REFURBISHED appliances, we understand that it's like buying a used car that sometimes you get a s**tty deal. Three appliances that all had issues? That's a little extreme. The appliances were delivered and right off, the stove was not installed right. If it hadn't been for our landlord's handyman and our uncle, we would have blown up the house or caused a very serious fire with the gas leak that was caused by an ill fitting/too big fitting connecting the gas line to the stove. We also had an issue with the stove's starter, which was repaired almost two weeks after purchase. Next, the washing machine broke down. The water pump went. I don't blame Reppert's for that, those can break at any time. The owner came out and fixed that as well. The third appliance that broke was our refrigerator. We called numerous times, several frantic calls over the loss of our food in our fridge (we just moved here so we used a lot of the money we came here with to get us started--so we didn't have extra for ruined food) and never once recieved a phone call back, even after getting the employee who works in the store on the phone. I was able to get the fridge fixed (wether it was actually paid for by Reppert's owner or not is really a moot point) from a GREAT local business, Appliance Repair Center, but from really no contact or apology from Reppert's owner. For me, three strikes and you're out. It's taught me not to buy from this business again as well as I'll have a hard time buying second hand appliances again. I think for local antiques and furniture, you're okay to go there but I wouldn't trust them when it comes to appliances. EDITED: Sure, he went beyond what he should have with repairs but he should have. Three appliances out of four, that's more than just a simple mistake. And I called more than just on a Sunday at 5.30. I called several times that following Monday frantic over the loss of food in our fridge and freezer. For me, not being able to feed my family is unacceptable. |
